Admit you were wrong. Apologize. Understand that you’re fallible. You make mistakes. You hurt people. Apologize. That’s growth; understanding you did something wrong and working towards making things right.

I needed this.

Thank you to all the people who posted this so I ended up seeing it. I really needed this right now. Thank you!

Yeah… Not gonna lie… I cried…

We need more people like this

Goddamn it stop making me feel human

The therapist I wanna be.

Text in the image:

“I’m a therapist and keep this poster in my waiting room, apparently it’s saved a few lives.”

I don’t like the phrase “a cry for help.” I just don’t like how it sounds. When somebody says to me, “I’m thinking about suicide. I have a plan: I just need a reason not to do it,” the last thing I see is helplessness.

I think your depression has been beating you up for years. It’s called you ugly, and stupid, and pathetic, and a failure, for so long that you’ve forgotten that it’s wrong. You don’t see any good in yourself, and you don’t have any hope.

But still here you are: you’ve come over to me, banged on my door and said, “HEY! Staying alive is REALLY HARD right now! Just give me something to fight with! I don’t care if it’s a stick! Give me a stick and I can stay alive!”

How is that helpless? I think that’s incredible. You’re like a marine: trapped for years behind enemy lines. Your gun has been taken away, you’re out of ammo, you’re malnourished, and you’ve probably caught some kind of jungle virus that’s making you hallucinate giant spiders.

And you’re still just going, “GIVE ME A STICK. I’M NOT DYING OUT HERE.” “A cry for help” makes it sound like I’m supposed to take pity on you, but you don’t need my pity. This isn’t pathetic. This is the will to survive. This is how humans lived long enough to become the dominant species.

With NO hope, running on NOTHING, you’re ready to cut through a hundred miles of hostile jungle with nothing but a stick, if that’s what it takes to get to safety.

All I’m doing is handing out sticks.

You’re the one saying alive.

I legit cried at this. I’ve needed to hear it put this way. Bless this post.

Every time I see this post I stop to read the whole image. It always helps — even on the good days.

Because it wasn’t weakness. It wasn’t shameful to seek help. It wasn’t pathetic to “cry for help”. I was looking for a stick, be that from myself or from someone else. I was trying to find a way out. I was trying to heal myself.

this is fuckin incredible.

I’m sorry if I repost to many of these, but if it could be someone’s “stick” then it’s worth it

For anyone that needs to read this today.

Text in the second image:

“Why are you so lazy?”

But you’re not lazy. Lazy is when you shrug things off because you can’t summon up the give-a-damn. When you’re curled up tight on your chair, at your desk, alone and grey and desperately wishing that you had your life in order, that you did all those things that you had to do, that it didn’t feel like breaking rocks just to feed and clothe yourself and get some sleep, that’s not lazy.

People don’t understand. You tell them “It’s Hard.” They tell you, “No it isn’t. You’re just lazy.”

You start to wonder if they’re right. Is breaking those rocks easy for everyone else? Are they that much stronger than you? They don’t look like they’re struggling. “Just try harder,” they say. But you’re trying. It’s not working. Breaking boulders in your path until you’re spent isn’t lazy, and you do it day after day.

You’re not lazy. Most people don’t have those rocks to break. They don’t even know what it’s like to have to break rocks to get things done. They don’t understand how hard you have to work, and how hopeless you feel, when you try and fail to do what they do easily. Things hard harder for you, they really are. And if those people had to deal with your problems they wouldn’t be doing any better.

You’re not lazy. You’re not weak. You’re fighting hard. I guess I just want you to know that I know that.”

For my little sister to get a new service dog that can actually accommodate her needs, it's going to cost $10,500.

American "Healthcare" is a fucking crime against humanity.

I'm having to watch my little sister decide what parts of her life aren't that important so she can take care of her current service dog until she (the dog) passes, and then get another service dog.

That means possibly months of being unable to do everyday human things like walk from her bed to the bathroom, make herself food, play with her niece and nephew.

Every one of those activities is legitimately dangerous for my sister to perform without active heart rate monitoring and assistance. And her service dog is sick enough that an alert was missed and my sister passed out yesterday for the first time since she got Ellie the service dog. Four years without serious incident. Gone.

I don't know how to make shit like this real for other people. If your activism ignores disability, if your world view doesn't include people with chronic illnesses, you can get right the fuck away from me.

I'm playing zero fucking games about this shit anymore. I will be openly hostile in future to anyone trying to defend the healthcare system as it currently stands. I'm not coming for Doctors on principle, but anyone supporting the current system as the continuing future can get fucked up the ass by a rust covered cactus. This is in-fucking-human.

Hey OP.

This is a real and valid point and something a lot of folks don’t realize about service dogs.

But your sister, specifically....do you think perhaps we could crowdfund the money for her new service animal? That’s no way to live. If all of my followers donated $2 each she’d have her new animal with some left over.

This isn’t the way healthcare should be. But maybe for at least one person we can help RIGHT NOW.

Well then!

Okay, guys, you know the drill. I’ll throw mine in on payday. In the meantime, let’s do everything we can to get this girl a dog! Her life literally depends on it. REBLOG (likes do nothing), donate a few bucks if you can, spread it far and wide.

Please Help ASAP!!!! (Thank you!)

My name is Madison and I’ve been through hell the past 8 months, I just got over a staph infection not too long, I’m still healing (my body was scarred from the sores) I still have to take medication to help my (compromised) immune system recover. On top of that, trying to get my monthly mental health medication has seemed impossible ($58), gas to be able to get to my doctors appointments, copays for those doctors appointments, food for myself and my daughter and diapers for my daughter. I haven’t been able to work since I got the Staph Infection and got fired from my job when I got the Staph Infection because “my face shouldn’t look like that”: I’m looking for a new job currently and am still waiting to hear back from the disability office since I tried to sign up (due to my mental health complications), If anyone could help with anything, I would be beyond deeply appreciative. You’d really be helping me and my daughter out. I’m looking for $125-$250 to get us through the next month, possibly longer. Please and Thank you!

My paypal is attached to the email mdschmidt97@gmail.com

If you do not have paypal but can find it in your heart to help me out, text me at 614-547-3758 & I’m sure we can figure something out.

Thank you again for taking the time to even read this. I would attach pictures, but I’m using a computer in my sister’s house since my phone was crushd by my daughter’s dad after he gave me a pretty decent beating when I won full custody of our daughter.

Edit: Also, OP needs 100-130 dollars to reinstate the restraining order against their abuser.

This is what OP’s friend says about their situation! Please consider donating!

Image

Please help protect this family from their abuser! They have a goal of $200 to stay in a hotel and pay for medication and diapers. Madison has already been beaten very badly by their abuser in the past, and they need to protect themself and their daughter!

They still haven’t received any donations, so please consider donating! They really need the help!

Thank you so so much to everyone who’s helped! They need $275 now to pay for their continued housing and some diapers for their daughter. They really appreciate that people have been able to help them be safe from their abuser.

They still need about $265! Thank you to the person who donated!

Thank you so much everyone! Unfortunately due to ncovid they haven’t been able to get a job and will need a few hundred dollars for food and supplies for their daughter again.

They only need around 200 more! They’ll be needing stuff because the electricity might go out where they are and if it does their daughter needs more clothes because the three outfits she has aren’t warm enough, plus it’s important that they get a flashlight and batteries so they can see. Please consider donating!

Why

This is demonstrating why you absolutely do not pour water on a grease fire.

holy shit

Okaaaay. If any of you actually have a grease fire in the kitchen put the lid on the pan. It will suffocate the flames. Don’t pour water on it, and don’t freak out. Cook safely!

Or throw flour on it to smother it.

NO, DO NOT USE FLOUR, DO NOT USE FLOUR TO SMOTHER A FIRE.

YOU HAVE TO USE BAKING SODA.

Throwing flour into a fire can cause it to combust and make the fire worse because FLOUR/SUGAR IS FLAMMABLE. One cup of flour into a grease fire can have the explosive force of dynamite.

The reason you use baking soda is that it releases carbon dioxide when heated, and CO2 is a fire suppressant.

can we talk about how this is from a tv-show called “do not try this at home” where they tested all sort of stuff you’re not supposed to do, but they only got four episodes because after this experiment they burned the house they were filming in to the ground.

if you haven’t heard what disney just did to their college program cast members, including the ones who came from other countries, do me a favor and learn about it, talk about it, share it, spread it, i need this to be known. i need this to not go away. they need to face consequences for what they just did to THOUSANDS of employees (most of which are under the age of 25) with such a short notice. please dont let them hide what they just did.

they laid off thousands on saturday, told them to get out of their housing in less than four days, told the ICPs (international college program) employees they need to be out in less than 4 days despite them being in another country on their own during travel bans no longer allowing them to fly home with their work visas no longer extended since they no longer work for the company, they told them that this is for their safety but they dont care that they just threw THOUSANDS of young adults into homelessness during a pandemic. and then they dropped Frozen 2 on disney+ because they needed to cover it. dont let them get away with that.

This has under 300 notes.
