There might have been a slave owner who purchased an abundance of slaves so that other slave owners couldn’t subject these slaves to horrible lives. If there was such a person, history would probably remember him in a negative light for owning so many slaves.

the Polish military leader and nobleman Tadeusz Kościuszko fought in the American War of Independence (and later became a champion of Polish-Lithuanian indepdence)  and became good friends with Thomas Jefferson during his stay in America.  When  Kościuszko returned to Europe he left a will stipulating what was to be done with the estates he owned in America and entrusted them over to Jefferson with the specific condition that they be sold and the money used to purchase the freedom of Jefferson’s (as well as others) slaves and pay for their at a school that would be opened up in New Jersey also using the funds left by Kościuszko. Jefferson of course never carried out his friend’s request and Kościuszko’s were left in a state of legal limbo until the 1850s when the Supreme Court gave them over to his European heirs

I’d like to point out to all the Billy Hargrove sympathizers, that Billy is almost strangely like Jonathan Byers. Abusive dad, misunderstood, repressed. He has a lot of responsibility put on his shoulders, he’s supposed to take care of his younger sibling… 

But here’s the catch, Jonathan Byers does not take out his problems on an innocent child or people who don’t deserve it. Jonathan Byers loves his little brother, Jonathan Byers does what he can to help his family despite it all. 

Jonathan and Billy are both products of their environment, yes, but in the same way of the Harry vs. Snape debacle… Your past does not define you, you make your own damn choices and you can decide to lash out at people or grow from everything and be a good person despite everyone going against you.

Do not sympathize with Billy Hargrove. I don’t care if he’s gay and lashing out because his dad caught him with some guy. I don’t care if he’s being abused, it gives him absolutely no right to abuse a little girl and go after her friends. 

Being abused does not give you the right to become an abuser.

In that scene in 2x09 when Mike was hitting and yelling at Chief Hopper, that was a years worth of pain coming out at once.

That scene had amazing acting from both actors.

Especially, Finn Wolfhard. Finn did an incredible job this season, and he deserves some kind of award for it!!

full offense but why are y’all sleepin on bob newby?? he was an adorable dork who was so supportive and accepting of joyce and her kids that it literally got him killed. he constantly showed joyce how much he loved her and was always there for her when she was afraid or worried. he made a real effort to connect with her kids and build a healthy relationship with them with zero (0) ulterior motives. he was literally one of the most kindhearted and genuninely good characters in the show and he deserved so much more. why aren’t we all talking about bob newby like wtf.
