My theory on what is going on with the 02 digidestined. There was a comment that the gate closed a year ago. Maybe that time the 4 02 digidestined were in the digital world and it closed at that moment and they couldnt get back and are trapped there. (And then the events with Alphamon happened but the original digidestined probably think they are in a digimon village waiting or something but they have no idea how to reopen the gate)
It was weird how they made no mention of them though.
Another theory is about Joe. Because he didn’t take any part in the fights and then the new digidestined appear. I wonder if the new digidestined will kinda take on the role of the 8th member while Joe is not active.

I was starting to worry at first with how slow it was until the first fight. (Can i just say how great it was that this fight was won by the other digimon and not Agumon/Greymon, as always? Angemon-Gatomon team is perfection! Then it picked up and it got so much better. Fantastic animation (with some weird parts but they didn’t even matter to me) and i liked the music too. Also there were some hilarious parts that were sooo spot on to the original series’ fun (Izzy talking while Tai and Matt fight and noone is paying attention to him... I was LAUGHING). Really enjoyed the first part of tri. Can’t wait for the next one.
