CP-02 - no·no·baby (from the “no·no·baby” single, 1982, Radio City Record Ltd.) Pretty darn odd techno-pop single from mystery unit CP-02. No info at all about these guys ‘cept that this single (which I believe is their only one) came out on the same label as cheese bomb MUSASI. This track is pretty much all about this dialogue between a fey (and maybe slightly inane) female character and an incredibly nerdy and whiny dude; sometimes interrupted by a more stern and authoritive male voice. All this is set to a percussive, bubbling and quite brilliant electronic backdrop. I got introduced to this single via the excellent techno-pop resource site Pop Academy, and I think their description of this record maybe sums it up best: “This is an unidentified male/female duo that was also introduced by “Techno Ca-yo Maniacs”. Side A is a kind of Electro Rap between a male and female. Guy’s part of lyrics is quite helpless.“ And there you go. All you Techno Ca-yo maniacs out there -please enjoy CP-02!

the Moomin series by Tove Jansson got a wonderful Japanese-European TV show with a charming English dub that was unfortunately never aired in the USA. a peaceful and visually beautiful show, it deals with themes such as friendship, loneliness, abuse recovery, and the quiet passing of time.
