Anonymous asked:

Would it be ok to use one of the drawing you did for carry on as an icon? With credit given to you in the description? I wanted to make sure

Absolutely! Thanks for asking! Anyone is allowed to use my art as an icon if you just mention credit paperpie somewhere, nbd

Finally got around to reading Rainbow Rowell’s Carry On and I just couldn’t get these characters out of my head.

Originally I had drawn Baz in a leather jacket and whoops he became Sirius Black so I revised that..

Hey guys! So I know this blog has been pretty quiet for the last year and I’m sorry about that. My freelance jobs have really picked up, and I’ve been getting more illustration gigs for the publishing market, which has always been the kind of work that I’ve wanted to do! I’m just still figuring out how to balance work art and fun art, so please bear with me for a bit. I promise there will be some improvement in the near-ish future!

Above is the first book I illustrated last (yes ‘last’ as in 2015) January. It was finally released this month! Publishing takes awhile. It was an incredibly fun project, and it’s so cool to see the finished book! :)

I HAVE AWESOME NEWS:

As of today, you can buy stuff – posters, T-shirts and postcard art – inspired by my books Eleanor & Park and Fangirl on DFTBA.com

I’ve been looking for a way to let fan artists share and sell their work in a manner that also makes sense for me, as the author – and I’m so happy this worked out with DFTBA.

The people at DFTBA really have their act together: They’re organized, they care about quality, and they really respect artists and creators.

We tried to choose artwork that’s most popular with readers. The large-format postcards are kind of an experiment: The goal was to make smaller, more affordable prints, and to include more artists. So far, the DFTBA store features some of my all-time favorite pieces, with work by:

Lauren Baldo, Simini Blocker, Valeria Bogado, Irena Freitas, Kady MacFarlane, Andrea Porretta, Mina Price, Risa Rodil and Leela Wagner

I think I’m most excited to share Simini Blocker’s digital painting of Eleanor and Park kissing. (I wish there was a way to put a GIF on a poster.)

Oh, and I love everything Risa Rodil does. Risa designed the “She looked like art” poster exclusively for DFTBA.

I hope you find something you like! And if you have ideas for different merch you’d like to see, send me a note on Twitter

You can now buy my Eleanor & Park illustration as a postcard, along with a lot of other really great stuff by really cool artists! Do itttt

Hey! I’m launching Landline July 8th in New York City at the Barnes & Noble in Tribeca. (At 6 p.m.)

B&N also has a special edition of Eleanor & Park out now. And if you come July 8, artists siminiblockerandiree and paperpie will be on hand to sign copies! (We will meet someday laurenbaldoart!)

This is the first time I’m having a book launch somewhere other than Omaha, and I’m feeling excited, but also nervous.

More event details here.

fyi I'm going to be at this thing on Tuesday if anyone would like to stop by and say hi!

I got my first copy of the Eleanor & Park special edition!! Featuring gorgeous art by siminiblocker, laurenbaldoart, andiree and paperpie!

(This edition turned out more beautiful than I was even expecting. All of these artists are so talented.)

There’s also a Q&A with me and a cool blue cover. This edition comes out in June, and you can pre-order it from Barnes & Noble in the U.S. and Indigo in Canada.

JUST A HEADS UP, my Eleanor & Park piece is going to be featuring in the special edition release of the novel! Which if you haven't read you should DEFINITELY invest in. Even if you've read it. Buy a new copy. Buy a million copies. Give them to your friends. Give them to your enemies who will then become friends. <3
