Honestly, ever since becoming a fanfic writer myself I’ve become like 500% more understanding and patient about other authors’ update schedules. An author takes 6+ months to post their next chapter? Yeah, totally get that real life can get in the way. An author abandons a fic? Disappointing, but it happens- sometimes inspiration for a story just dies. An author apologizes about taking so long to post a 10k word chapter? Dude, that’s like 18-20 pages on Word single-spaced. It takes me at least a week to write an essay for school a quarter the length of that, and that’s with a deadline. 

It’s probably the most important thing writing fanfic has taught me, tbh. How to fully appreciate the hard work someone else has put into their story. How important the role of the audience is to an author. And that no matter what, you are never entitled to demand more of a story that you are getting for free. 

I’d like to add to this, expanding on the “role of the audience”.  COMMENTS.  Guys, seriously.  Comments and reviews, even ones politely pointing out flaws in our writing, are SO IMPORTANT.  

“I want to tell the author how much I loved this fic but it was posted awhile ago or there are so many comments already and I’ll just be bothering them and they’ll never notice my comment.” NO.  Your comments are never bothering us, and we always read them.  Sometimes several times.  Even on old fics we don’t update anymore.

ESPECIALLY on old fics.  You know how many times I get a big goofy grin when people comment on my first few fanfics?  Every single time.  You took the time to not only read my work but to scroll through all the stuff I’ve written and read my crappy new-to-fanfics writing?  You’re AWESOME.  I’d love to hear what you have to say.

And when you find a fic with like a dozen chapters and post a comment on each chapter as you go along?  That’s awesome too.  Never think “I can’t comment on them all because it’ll bother them.”  No!  We love that!  You guys are so important, don’t forget that.

Okay, guys. I’ve got a rant for you.

Can we just take a minute to talk about how heart breaking Huedhaut’s entire story is? I don’t just mean his own route, oh no, I mean in every single route he appears in the Star Crossed Myth world. This navy-haired, kind soul has got me in pieces with every single scene he is in. And yes, there are spoilers ahead. You have been warned.

First of all, can you even imagine, for just a moment, the person you loved so deeply sacrifices themselves and leaves you behind? Can you even fathom that kind of pain? Especially for an eternal being, like Huedhaut? And not just that, but killing a part of yourself to save that person’s soul? I can’t even comprehend the agony of watching your lover die and not being able to convince them to live for you. Just this point is enough to make Huedhaut one of the most tragic characters to ever come out of Voltage Inc.

However, I am not finished yet.

The very reason for this rant is simply the fact that while Heudhaut is the sole reason the goddess is even alive as a human, she is able to choose another God to save and to love. But here’s the kicker, it’s not just any God she can choose…

She chooses from Huedhaut’s colleagues.

Can you even imagine? Saving the woman you love, and finding out she holds the key to save your own soul, only to be passed over for another man? One of your coworkers, your colleagues, your makeshift friends? And even when he is passed over, unless you are like myself and had an immediate attraction, in every route…In Every. Single. Route. Hue is her supporter, her secondary protector, her shoulder to cry on, her friend. He never, ever tries to tell her of her past life to sway her to be with him. He keeps it and suffers in silence. This is how I know Huedhaut truly loves the goddess.

And it completely shatters me. Every. Time.

Huedhaut is the only character in any Voltage Inc. game I have played, who I believe truly loves the MC because he is willing to let her make her own choices, even if he knows that choice doesn’t include him. He would gladly step aside to make sure she was happy. Hue is the most beautiful, kind, wonderful, loyal, selfless character I have ever had the pleasure of meeting.

He will forever trump all other Voltage men.

@scorpybaby , Well if you have read everything else so far on Hue then I would recommend it. It is an emotional roller coaster but it’s very well done. You get to see how Hue felt back then with all his raw emotions. So yeah I say go for it.

@daydreamer749 I haven’t read his S2 yet (or anyone’s S2 for that matter) but I have read all his S1 and lots of substories so I think I shall go for it! :) Thanks for your help!!

How To Support Canadian Net Neutrality

If you are currently unfamiliar with the unexpected net neutrality battle, please refer to this post.

As a short summary, Bell Media, backed by Cineplex and Rogers Media, is attempting to take control of net neutrality in Canada by going directly to the CRTC (who regulates most Canadian media related leglislation).

This allows them to skip the regular court process that would normally open them to public disapproval and is a dangerous and underhanded move for all Canadians.

This guide will show you how to directly comment to the CRTC on the proposal put forward by Bell step by step. The comment process should take less than ten minutes and could make a huge difference on tomorrow’s outcome.

The following is for Canadian citizens or permanent residents only. If you are neither please follow the above link where you can still make your voice heard by signing the active petition. Please also continue to circulate information including this post and the post linked above.

You can continue to do this until the hearing period is over, but comments submitted in the next few hours will also hold a lot of weight.

I recommend changing the wording slightly if you are able. However even just a direct paste if you agree with the message still is a good contribution.

Unless for some reason you actually are a respondent or a designated representative (if you are one you’ll know, don’t worry), skip these two. Agree to the confirmation of service, you won’t be asked to provide evidence or proof as you are responding as a consumer not as a legal or commercial representative.

Finally, before completing make sure all necessary sections are properly filled out. Use your legal name and most professional email.

The sunlight poured into the room, illuminating her face as she slept. With a yawn, she rubbed her eyes and sat up in the luxurious King-Sized bed. Grasping blindly, she searched for the warm body that would normally be laying next to her. When she found nobody, she scanned the room in surprise. The curtains were peeled back so light was flooding the bedroom. The nearby desk and armchair was impeccably neat, showing no signs of anyone having sat there since the last time she cleaned. She slowly crawled out of bed and peeked into the bathroom, but it’s metallic surfaces reflected only an empty room.

Where on Earth could he be? she wondered, tousling her hair with a free hand as she padded towards the kitchen. After fixing herself a cup of coffee, she wandered aimlessly into the living room where she found a familiar silhouette seated almost regally in an oversized leather armchair. His eyes met hers and took on a softness that was reserved only for her as he uttered a single word. “Coffee”.

We managed to make the repeal of Obamacare such a hot button issue the GOP failed to get the votes needed to repeal it outright, so we can do this. We need to treat net neutrality the same way. Make it too hot to handle. Make congress hear us and make them unwilling to touch net neutrality. 

@scorpybaby it sucks with guys like that i had quite a few demons in my past 2 of them being *holes BUT saying that I met 2 wonderful men at the same time time (Damn you fate!!) I had started dating my now husband when i got asked out by a very tall dark and handsome man wiyh a Jamaican accent. But I thought no I’ll stay with my bf (we had only been going out like 3 weeks) . So i apologised and declined his date offer, now im married to my then bf. I love him and we have our issues at times and i do sometimes wonder if I’d gone with this other guy, But I love my hubby and i think if I new he was the outcome I’d live my life again *itty guys and all for him.
