Cordelia (コーデリア Kōderia) was the first wife of Karlheinz and the mother of the triplets, Ayato,Kanato and Laito.Daughter of the Demon King Burai and his lover-the First Blood Mene.
Cordelia was a very beautiful woman.She had a very long purple hair ,that gets lighter on the tips,with distinct side bangs and light green eyes with narrow pupils.A perfect feminine body ,hourglass type of a figure with big breasts and thin waist.With fair and delicate white skin.
She wore a dark purple(looking as black) dress with straps made up in a zigzag pattern. There was a white rose embellishment by the right side of her chest and two smaller white roses next to it. The dress had a slit on the right side of her hips showing delicate white ruffles underneath.
There was also chain around her hips with two blue rose attachment on the right side.
On her right arm, she wore an arm band that was similar in style to the straps on her dress with a loop connecting the top and the bottom part of the band. On her left arm, she wore a long black glove. She also wore a black choker on her neck,connected with straps to the dress.
Her nails were colored with dark blue nail polish.
Cordelia is a beautiful free spirited woman ,who can be sometimes too passionate and obsessed with the man she loves- Karlheinz. And because of this and her complicated relationship with him,she can appear to be not the best mother, showing neglecting or abusive behavior towards her sons. She possesses a very strong combinations of beautify and seductive nature,not only because of her special and so desired by any vampire blood that makes them stronger,but also addicted. But also combined with her sex appeal and her quite lustful and bohemian nature of a seductress.Which makes her the center of the attention of all the males.
Richter is also one of those who fall for the stunningly beauty,and she uses that to have him by her side as a lackey.At first he plans to use her only for her blood to dethrone his brother,but then he really falls involve for her (unlike she for him,but he knows it).
Holding a pride in her own heritage as the daughter of the ruler of the Demon World (even before realizing her true worth as the last First Blood female) Cordelia is very self centered and arrogant, feeling superior to everyone and expecting everything to go as she desires .And that is partly because Karlheinz have promised her that through spoiling her and obeying her wishes until he courts her from her early ages, until she agrees to become his wife. And therefor she doesn’t react well when things go against her wishes either. Combined with her immature selfish personality (that reminds a lot to Ayato’s) she can act very cruel in order to achieve what she wants and is ready to hurt even her own children,when she gets frustrated by her husband’s mentally abusive games towards her .
Because of her free spirited nature,Cordelia is also very flirty. She often flirts in front of the triplets ,while usually forgetting their existence around her.
However in her own twisted way she does care for her sons, she is strict to them (as she explains in Dark Fate Ayato’s route ,to the heroine) because she wanted the best for them. Even though she lacks developed completely motherly feelings, she have loved them as the proof of her eternal love between her and Karlheinz and wanted from Ayato to be the perfect favorite child for Karl, which she believed will seal their love forever . Being too young and immature when she first meets Karlheinz, who plans to manipulate and use her even before she was born,makes her personality quite twisted in her perspectives and views of love and therefor she isn’t quite capable to show affection to her sons properly,since most likely she haven’t had the chance to experience real parental attention as a child either(because her mother dies from the Endzeit after giving birth to her).
Cordelia is the daughter of the Demon Lord Burai and his lover the First Blood woman Mene .
It is very strange why would a first blood woman of the rank of Mene from the royal family would even consider to become a lover of the Demon King ( since he is a sub-race ),but Carla suspects it was all part of the Karlheinz’s plan and since Mene was dying by the Endzeit already ,Karl found another way to obtain another First Blood woman for his experiments - which was Mene’s daughter from Burai - Cordelia.
Mene dies a little after giving birth to Cordelia ,and the little princess who isn’t a direct descendant of Burai because she is a bastard child and a female(and females do not rule in the Demon World) ,was getting the most attention and spoiling not by her father,but by Karlheinz,who was trying to manipulate and court her ,to make her fall in love with him from a very early age,in order to use her. Not knowing for his plans and growing up only with the “affections” and attentions she was receiving by Karlheinz(even if suspecting he might want something from her in return),Cordelia grew to love him and only him ,him becoming everything for her and also a role-model .(Dark Fate Ayato’s route Cordelia’s confession to the heroine)
At first after marrying her Karlheinz hopes that through her love and blood,he will change and become the “New Adam” that will change the Demon World .But since that doesn’t happen Karlheinz starts to blame her for loving him in too “demonic” ways and therefor saying she is unsuitable to be the “Eve”,instead of realizing that the problem was in him for being incapable of loving at all even in the frames of their demonic species. Karlheinz continues with his experiments and researches,while at the same time grows more fascinated by the “humans”, he starts to glorify the human type of affection ,even though unable to understand it . He starts to think his kind,just like him are simply incapable of loving because of their immortal lives. Doing more researches of the Endzeit ,he decides that his offspring can become the perfect Adam and tries to push Cordelia to give him sons faster through marrying another woman (Beatrix) . And plotting to one day use Cordelia’s heart in a human vessel to combine pure demon and human in order to create the new “Eve”for new species that to replace the current demons.
In order to achieve that he not only uses Cordelia and gives her no love of that he have promised her,but also neglects her and mentally breaks her ( which he does to his other two wives too ) so his offspring to be incapable to make the normal for their demon kind bonds at all,and one day they to create the new bond with the human vessel easier.
Giving only grief,betrayal,cheating and neglect to Cordelia, Karlheinz teaches her that this is the way to “Love”, which affects her deeply and also molds her as a mother to their sons.A mother incapable of pure affection ,a person who doesn’t put any meaning behind the empty world of “love”.
Because of her free spirited nature Cordelia doesn’t want to see herself as a victim,and wishes to be equal to Karlheinz and to give him the same love he does and same treatment he gives to her. She becomes strict to her sons,especially to Ayato because she still hopes a perfect child will prove the bond between her and Karlheinz,if his favorite son is her son. She neglects her other sons when they are young and doesn’t mind openly cheating to their father even in front of them,because for her that is the “love game” between her and Karlheinz.
Cordelia is desired by countless men ,the most desired and valued woman in the Demon World, and she doesn’t mind paying attention to some until she gets bored,acting like a spoiled princess.But even so in her heart she never betrays her love to Karlheinz and does everything out of love for him,the twisted love he showed her.
Cordelia has an affair even with Karlheinz’s younger brother- Richter,who gets deeply in love with her,but she never deceives him and shows him he is only there to please and serve her but will never replace her true love.Giving him in return for his services,pleasure and her power giving blood.
But also,when one of her sons - Laito grows up and becomes adult,Cordelia shows him it is okay to finally unleash all of his secret desires towards her and permits him to be her lover too.Seeing Karlheinz having an incest relationship with Christa and even a son out of it,for her this is again part of their “cruel ways of loving”.She keeps believing all that Karl does is out of love to her and she does the same to him. Since Cordelia is incapable of expressing feelings or begin affectionate aside of the carnal lust, she does try to bond with her son Laito this way,but realizes she can’t because she will only craves for real only Karlheinz’s love ,and breaks Laito’s heart telling him he can never replace his father(Dark Fate fandisc Laito’s route).
While Laito grows more jealous towards her and starts killing her lovers, Karlheinz punishes him for him indulging in such affairs with his mother.And Cordelia to show him his place also makes out with Richter in front Laito ,making him watch while he is in prison,how another man takes her ,in order to show him his place and not to overstep it or try to posses her(Diabolik Lovers game Laito’s route).
Overwhelmed by the abusive behavior but mostly the rejected love ,the triplets who love their mother to the point of obsession end up killing her. Ayato is the first one to directly oppose her and to try take by force from her the refused love, he wounds her mortally and tries to suck her dry.Craving her affection he wishes at least her blood,but Cordelia keeps crying for Karlheinz until the end. Trying to seek Laito’s help against Ayato,doesn’t save her ,because Laito already knows he will never have her either,so he better seal her for himself in her death,in order not to share her,he pushes her off the balcony . Finding the dead corps Kanato sets it on fire to “warm her up”,and then gathers the ashes so he can hold onto her only for himself too,then puts them in the only present he had from her- his Teddy .
But before Kanato burns her dead corps,Richter finds her,and Cordelia somehow getting the idea, she might not survive makes him take her heart and implant it into a new vessel and then resurrect her. Richter does that,and from the shadows manipulated by Karlheinz, this is how her heart ends up in the heroine, so Karl’s experiments can continue forward.
Later in Diabolik Lovers ( game and anime) ,Cordelia has the chance to manifest or take over the vessel.While in the AU of More,Blood(fandisc) Karlheinz seals her spirit against that. In Dark Fate ( fandisc) Cordelia is temporary resurrected by Carla Tsukinami ,her older cousin she doesn’t know about. In order for him to use her by revealing in front her and Ayato about how Karlheizn truly manipulated her and for what he used her and her sons. Cordelia gets heartbroken and loses desire to live and fight ,but still tries to find Karl and ask him the truth, and when she goes in his castle and in his special room he doesn’t even show his face to her and only speaks ,hurting her both with his words and draining the energy that still keeps her alive,Ayato witnessing this makes him hate Karlheinz even more and realize all of his misery was because of him,and that Cordelia was a victim just like him,he fights Karlheizn to death.
Karlheinz is Cordelia’s husband,the love of her life and her main drive for her existence and all of her actions. Her love is an absolute obsession with him,however the cruel ways of twisted examples of affections he shows to her and then the neglect, is what molds Cordelia into the cruel mother she becomes for her sons. Karlheinz plans to use her since before she was born,first trying to become the “Adam” through her blood and beginning of the new race, and when failing deciding to use her for offspring which will one day do that ,and her heart for his creation called “Eve” that will be a human vessel with demonic heart. Karlheinz mentally breaks Cordelia in order for her to break her sons, which is also a part of his twisted experiments.
Richter is Cordelia’s brother in law ,and also can be considered her main lover.He is the only one among her lovers that she says she has a use of, and therefor forbids Laito to kill him . Unlike in the anime ,in the games Richter is very loyal to Cordelia and loves her deeply,even though he knows about her true feelings he would do anything to bring her back,or if he falls into despair he can completely go mad. He is rather masochistic towards her and enjoys her humiliations (Dark Fate game).He likes to get on his knees and lick her feet and doesn’t mind even to be kicked by her, like a dog.
Cordelia views her son Ayato as her heir and expects from him only the best. Acknowledging his potential and powers above his brothers’ ,she believes he can grow stronger and strengthen her bond with Karlheinz by presenting him a favorite for him child. Pushed into a competition for his favor,by Karlheinz himself who took Beatrix as a second wife ,and Cordelia having to compete with her for Karl’s love sometimes makes her too frustrated and pushing Ayato too strictly to study ,especially noticing her son isn’t all that good when it comes to learning. Cordelia can treat him harshly by slapping him if he replies disrespectful to her,or even to punish him by pushing him into a water while she forbids him to get out ,but at the same time she can speak with begging voice to him to become the best and he to understand her, or praise him when he does good, and he hopes to impress her more,hoping to get her love and affection.
Ayato was the closest one to her as a child,being her heir and she having the biggest hope for his growth . Ayato was usually around her and witnessing her suffering because of Karlheinz’s games he wanted to ease her or comfort her, or to prevent her from suffering,which usually was making her pour her frustration only more at him. But even so Ayato would endure the punishment or the beatings ,and even his toys being burned by her,hoping that he will get her love one day,for which he was mocked by his brother Laito who was jealous of Ayato for getting any attention at all.
Technically, Ayato only wanted love and approval from his mother, but he didn’t get any of these because Cordelia was always fixated with Karlheinz.Ayato remains obsessed by his mother even after her death ,even if subconsciously as he keeps seeking her approval.
Kanato was quite neglected as a child by his mother, even though he would do anything to get her attention including hurting himself. In More ,Blood (fandisc) stabbing himself and bleeding out to make her notice him and get worried(which didn’t really had an effect on her) , encouraged to do so by Laito , who was still envious of his brother for having any purpose of their mother as a singer. Cordelia loved Kanato’s voice and she enjoyed the most when he sang for her ‘Scarborough Fair’ . Cordelia’s flirtatious nature was letting her freely make out and even let Richter blood-suck her in front her “song-bird”. But even so,Kanato would love her unconditionally and quietly, clinging to his only friend Teddy - a stuffed bear he received as a gift from her.
Laito was the most neglected one as a child by Cordelia , which made him envy and bully his brothers quite a lot,mocking them they will never obtain the love they seek from their mother,because she has eyes only for Karlheinz. However as he grew up,noticing that there is a way to obtain Cordelia’s attention even if just for a bit, through becoming her lover, he began to get interested in her in that way.Noticing that,Cordelia decides to encourage her son, having the example of her husband and his incest relationship with Christa, Cordelia encouraged Laito to become her lover ,saying that is “Okay to give her love”. Minding that in the VN games of Diabolik Lovers there have never been explicit sexual scenes between the two ,but only blood suck .
In Diabolik Lovers ( original game) Laito grows obsessed by his love for Cordelia to the point to want to posses her only for himself and driven mad by her flirtatious bohemian nature,to start killing her lovers. Laito gets punished for his affairs by Karlheinz ,and Cordelia decides to teach Laito his place by making out with Richter in front of the imprisoned Laito .
Laito loves Cordelia to the point of losing his mind and becoming too twisted,seeking escape in the lust, just like her because of Karlheinz.
After being overwhelmed from not being able to possess her, Laito decides to kill her instead to save her from Ayato ,hoping he will have her only for himself trough the vampire love - the murder.However he loses point of existence after her death .
In More,Blood AU (fandisc) Laito was changed to not feel affection/love towards Cordelia but simply consume their lustful relationship as such ,not knowing the meaning of love unlike in the original game.
In Dark Fate - Laito’s character was returned closer to the original and he was obsessed and controlled by his love towards his dead mother,remembering with flashbacks how he asked her to replace Karlheinz and be her man,and she telling him no one can replace Karlheinz for her.
In all of the game versions Laito has always been an adult shown with his adult sprite and voice in the moment of their first erotic encounter and it has always been willing for both of the sides. Also Laito himself states that he have never viewed her as a mother(due to her neglecting him completely as a child), and later when he grows up starts to view her as his lover/woman of interest.
Stepping in a family between a married man and a woman,Beatrix knew very well what she is getting into ,but still did her best to try steal Cordelia’s place. Giving birth of Karlheinz’s first sons made the things more difficult between the two ,and helped in Karlheinz’s twisted plot to completely abuse mentally Cordelia until he breaks her.
Even though viewed as a “true lady” Beatrix having reminded constantly of her place by the first wife Cordelia The Demon King’s Daughter ,made her too bitter and showed she wasn’t really that perfect of a lady,paying the price for trying to steal a man from another woman. Cordelia on the other hand knew this is simply her husband’s way to show his cruel affection games towards her,or so she wanted to believe.However she couldn’t forgive Beatrix easily and would often call her an “old hag”. Stressed by Beatrix’s pushy and overambitious existence and her sons,Cordelia became crueler mother for her own.
Cordelia wasn’t thrilled by her existence,and as the only one brave enough she would openly state her mind for Christa mocking her unstable mentality .Which would usually get them into a fight for Karlheinz. The delusional Christa would say she is the only one loved,even though she was the only one to know the truth about Karl’s experiments and that he didn’t loved anyone,which was what pushed her to her madness. With the example of Karlheinz having a marriage and a child from his Close Blood relative Christa,Cordelia accepts the incest as something completely normal ,and no one from her family judges her for that.
In Dark Fate ( fandisc) Christa mistakes the heroine with Cordelia ( because of the same scent ) and Subaru as usually for Karlheinz,which makes her envious and that is why she poisons the heroine,showing how jealous she was of Cordelia anyway.
Cordelia finds out about her older cousins and her own heritage as a First Blood in Dark Fate Ayato’s route when Carla uses a high level magic to resurrect her, in order to tell her the truth about Karlheinz and thus to use her and Ayato for his plan for revenge ,which completely breaks her heart .
Before Carla reveals the truth to Cordelia Shin ,as usually, doesn’t understand his brother’s plans and expects from her to follow their commands,that she isn’t really even intending to do,which makes Shin quite angry and displeased with her, meeting such a disobedient woman. But Carla is patient because he knows things will go his way no matter what she does.
Later, when Carla explains to her and Ayato,who she really is ,Ayato asks if then he as her son is a First Blood too, but Carla says he isn’t because neither he nor his brothers inherited her blood nor genes.
The heroine is the human vessel for Cordelia’s heart ,that Richter inplants in her in order to ressurect Cordelia one day,not knowing that this is all actually part of Karlheinz’s plans and experiments.
The heroine’s only worth for any of the vampires and the ancestors is solely Cordelia’s heart and blood.
Cordelia possesses all of the basic/passive abilities for a First Blood ,however not knowing of her own true heritage ,Karlheinz purposely hides from her ,she most likely have never even tried most of them.
The female demons/vampires in the Demon World are weaker than the male ones therefor they are not warriors and don’t learn combat or high rank magic.
Cordelia views as her strongest weapons, her seductive skills, her sex appeal and body, and her addictive blood.
Once exposed to her mother’s Endzeit directly(when she was born)and not getting ill, seems that Cordelia to be immune to it.Which is also hinted by her blood in the heroine being able to cure Carla’s Endzeit.
Also she is being able to be multiply resurrected .
