In isolation my imagination has run wild and this album is the result, a collection of songs and stories that flowed like a stream of consciousness. Picking up a pen was my way of escaping into fantasy, history, and memory. I’ve told these stories to the best of my ability with all the love, wonder, and whimsy they deserve. i think this album is important, especially in contrast to lover, it shows that even when you’re at peace and happy that the ghosts from your past can still linger. i think it’s incredibly humanizing and comforting to know that it’s okay to feel sad when everything in your life seems fine. we’re allowed to have these emotions. we’re supposed to have these emotions.
