Miss Major in The Trans List (2016)

a reminder that miss major has a retirement fund, still not even half funded after being open for 4 years. if you’re able, you should consider a monthly pledge, or whatever you are able

After gofundme stopped allowing monthly donations they moved to Fundly.

After Miss Major’s 2019 stroke, donations go to continuing her rehab + her retirement fund, in addition to helping care for Asiah, the baby she and Beck had in January 2021.

This clip has been making the rounds on social media this week and it’s from all the way back in 1996 - I know people don’t look to me for crackerjack political commentary, so here’s an ice cold take: reproductive rights are human rights. Rights that millions of women marched and fought for. And for that to be scribbled out of history by the biased pen of a bunch of sundowning conservative men to advance their own agendas is an injustice to those women. Women were the last to be able to vote. Women didn’t have the right to own property. They had no legal claim to money that they earned. Is that the great America pro life conservatives want to go back to? Certainly seems like it. What’s to stop a SCOTUS decision banning same-sex marriage?? Or civil rights in general?? For those that think I’m overreacting, I seem to recall voicing the same concerns in 2016, when I was condescendingly told “that won’t happen”. It felt like we were beyond this, didn’t it? I think all the manufactured “outrage” on the right over the draft decision leaking points to their real fear of the fact that they know this isn’t the will of the people. But never mind that this decision is intensely unpopular with the American public, boy it’s sure good there’s no accountability for a decision like this, isn’t it? No term limits, no age limits, no partisan balance, no code of ethics, and no oversight- that’s the way we like it. The law is bent to the will of an extremely specific subset of Christianity and the agenda of a group hellbent on keeping 51% of the population under its thumb. And until the law reflects the actual will of the people, we’re just going to keep moving that needle toward fascism. Call it a false equivalency. Call it leftist paranoia. Call it overreacting. I’ll call it like I see it- it’s a disgrace. It’s shitty joke with no punchline. And if this is what we call America, it’s pretty far from great.
