Insightful talk from our very own Harvey Dingwall, speaking to us about his phd. Making us all think about the relation between technology and the drawing practice.
A change of studio today. 2nd year getting thoroughly inspired by the creativity of Mr. Anderson's wonderful class at Preston Street Primary School. Thanks for having us, it was a lovely morning. (at Preston Street Primary School)

Here’s how my scrap book is looking! ✂
I’ve been doing this French film competition thing every year, though this time was slightly different in that instead of a poster for a specific film, we got to choose from a range of Cannes film festival posters and create our own versions of it, whether inspired by the original or something completely new. There were certain years we could choose from, and when the lady flicked through the slideshow and the 2006 poster came up on screen, I knew that was the one.
The 2006 poster features a still from Wong Kar-wai’s In the Mood for Love / 花樣年華, which is a Hong Kong film (you might have heard of Chungking Express / 重慶森林, another film by the same director). You can probably guess why I made my decision so quickly.
So I ended up doing another screen print of the woman from the film holding the thermos which she used to bring back noodles from the street noodle stall (actually the motif of noodles is pretty important as that was the origin of how the main characters started developing a connection, from their brief encounters passing by each other on the way to the stall).
(analyses aside I just really wanted to draw 1960s Hong Kong and also cheongsams are so visually cool)
