Akuma was just enjoying the peaceful night, stretched out on a rock as she looked up at the moon. She let her eyes close for a while, just planning on resting when a nearby noise grabbed her attention. Crimson eyes peered over, a dangerous smile forming on her lips as the daiyokai sat up, head tilting slightly to the side.

“Didn’t anyone ever tell you it’s best to not wake people up? I suggest you leave, you’re interrupting my relaxation time.”

She had told him specifically not to follow. She told him that she would have been back in less than a day, only going for a little walk.... She honestly didn’t mean it, she wasn’t planning on coming back for a long time if at all. Her home lands were her destination, now having something to protect she couldn’t just wait for the enemy to come to her.

She was done running. She was done trying to keep both herself and the one she loved safe by pure luck and dodging enemies. She needed to face them head on. Clean up the swarms of chaos she left in her wake from before. Her father’s men no doubt continued to terrorize the humans there while also looking for her in other lands. She couldn’t allow it to continue.

She hated lying to him, but she hated the thought of losing him even more. That was the only thing that kept her resolve as she neared closer and closer to the place she saw as Hell, already on the edge of the Shadow Fields her nostrils flaring as she remembered the territory, trying to pick up the scent of anything that might prove to be an issue.... But then she smelled him

Crimson eyes opened wide as she spun around, not even worrying about anything that might be near. All she worried about was him right now. He was too far East, too close to the dangers that lurked here. Akuma’s gaze ran over the treeline far behind, eyes dilated from her sheer panic. Why did he follow? Had she given herself away before? Did he know she was up to something?

Instead of running away like her initial instinct was, as soon as she caught sight of the slayer she was running towards him. It wasn’t far to backtrack, even if she wanted to only move forward, she refused to do so with him trailing behind like this.

“Leave.” She snarled out, fangs bared and features angry as she neared the human. “You aren’t welcome here, Leave. Now.” She was almost tempted to escort him back, ensure his safety, but she couldn’t break her tough facade in front of him. Even still, she knew there was no hiding the relief in her eyes at seeing him unharmed.

All he knew was that there were people close to him being attacked. Even now, as the slayer made his way deeper into their hideout, his orders were to stay by their Queen’s side, like always, but the irritation inside him was bubbling, even if it didn’t show on his stoic exterior.

As the human’s scent came closer the demon shifted his weight on his feet. Once the other’s figure came into view, he took a step forward, eyes trained on his assumed target. He’d attacked his brothers, his family, the ones he should protect. The Queen was important, that wasn’t even a question, but he knew he abilities wouldn’t be overcome by a mere human. However, as he strode forward, a hand moved up in front of him, instantly stopping him in his tracks.

Image

“Did someone give you permission to strike?” The female asked softly, instantly putting the male back into his place. A step back, hands clasping in front of him, he simply stood there, staring at the human as he let the Queen decide what to do. It’s what he was there for, after all; to protect. Making the decisions wasn’t his nature.

Crimson eyes rested on the intruder, a slight smile tugging at the daiyokai’s lips. Sure, this human hurt those under her protection, and he’d pay, but he at least deserved a chance to explain himself. It was the opportunity she was willing to give anyone who didn’t simply attack her without trying to converse first.

“You, Slayer.... Why have you decided to harm those close to me? Surely you know that only means I’ll want revenge against you. And even more so, surely you know you won’t survive if I decide to go after you.”

The HEAVIEST of all sighs escaped him, almost tempting to curl his fingers into fists. Patience was key here and certainly this dog’s saving grace from being punched in the damn face.

“I’ll have you know that my wife and my husband are talking right now so things are fine at our end, thank you. Now I don’t find you or your comments amusing so please leave so I can take care of my pups in peace.”
Image

“Ah, so the other two lovebirds are alone? Without you? Doesn’t that make you... I don’t know, a little wary? I mean, weren’t they together before you anyway? What’s stopping them from leaving you out of it all again? They’re going to be without you eventually. I mean, it only makes sense. You’re only human, after all.”

Dog Day Afternoon - Cheryl/Akuma

Cheryl swallowed hard, her mouth suddenly dry.  “Oh,” she squeaked.  “I–I’m sorry for all the questions, Akuma.  It’s just that I’ve never met a demon before, or anyone who has the kinds of powers you do.  Not to mention a demonic-essence sword.”  She blinked.  “You don’t plan on killing me, do you?”
Image

“That I can understand. No need to be sorry, dear. As for me killing you, I don’t plan on it, but that doesn’t mean it won’t happen. My mother taught me to protect those beings lesser than me, but that will to protect only goes so far. I’m sure you understand.”

"Hmm? Whom are you?"

“Isn’t it generally seen as polite to give your own name before asking that of others?”

“I accept your apology and I forgive you.” Cynthia said and bowed her head as well,” Hm? Is that so?”. She crossed her arms acrosse her buxom busom, raising her brows. “I am Cynthia the witch of the Woods… “ she introduced herself, not sensing any ill intent, yet.
She smiles a little and looks the other over,” Have you a place to rest?”.

“I don’t have a set place to rest, no. I just figured I’d find a cave somewhere. It wouldn’t be the first time I’ve slept in the wilderness, you know.” In fact she rather liked being out in the wild. Sure, it was more dangerous, but it was also a hell of a lot more fun.

“So you’re a witch? Can’t say I’ve met one of those before.”

Guard {CLOSED}

“A Daiyokai?” Isabel looked confused, “what’s that? I’ve never heard of it before.” She explained before nodding at her next comment. “It isn’t fun, but I understand why they did it. If I hadn’t been human and there was something wrong with me I could kill many and quite a bit of the human race has already been killed off. We are on the verge of being extinct. That’s why they continue to watch me, I guess.” She mused.
“You would do that?!” Isabel asked with wide, hopeful eyes. She wasn’t a soldier but she was someone who could attest to her not hurting anyone while she was away. She would feel bad for lying, but it was better than being locked up. She would prefer to stay out of a cell. “That would be awesome!” Isabel suddenly became excited, eyes lighting up even more as she explained that she could gather information that they couldn’t. “We really need the help. We lose a lot of people trying to get information, and I don’t want my brother to be next.” As strong as he was there was always a chance.

“Well, lets get moving then, child. I don’t tend to stay in one place for long, and if you’re around, these Titans are bound to come searching for you. Unless my presence is enough to scare them off, but I sincerely hope not. It’s been a while since I dug my claws into something.”

She didn’t plan on answering her about what a daiyokai was. If her people tested on her, there was no reason they wouldn’t test on someone deemed supernatural. It was best to just leave that be.

"How did you get to be such a great fighter?"

“Well, it helps when you have around two hundred years of experience.”

“Demons are better than humans?”  Cheryl lifted an eyebrow, grinning at Akuma.  “I’ll take your word for it.  But anyone who can live longer and be stronger is probably head and shoulders above me.  What do you do with your poison claws and fangs?  And can I see your sword?”  @daiyokai-akuma
Image

“My, you’re a curious one, aren’t you? Well, normally I kill with my poison. It’s strong enough to melt most metals, and can be detrimental to those it touches. My sword was forged from my own demonic essence, and at first I thought it would only amplify those effects, but instead it was given the power to cure the ailments of those effected by poison. I can’t say I’m unhappy about it, though. As for showing you it, I’d rather not. You see, I only bring out Kutsu when the situation calls for it.”

“…sure, ah, thanks.” The hanyou says, still cautious but less so, given she was acting a fair bit like another Daiyokai he’d encountered, still he doesn’t turn his back to the woman until he’s a respectable distance away, and then he moves quickly to the stream.

Akuma waited until he was out of sight, staying in place for a few extra moments before walking off. It would be a pity is he died, but it wasn’t her job to watch over him. She’d keep her promise and slay any demons roaming in his direction, but that was as far as her kindness would stretch.

Cynthia blinked and lowered her eyelids. “Well, it is pretty rude but you are on my property so it would be nice to know whom you are /first/…” she says, “ I am too weary of strangers to just give out my name..”.

“Oh! In that case accept my apologies, I didn’t realize I was on someone else’s territory.” Head bowed ever so slightly the daiyokai adopted a smile upon her lips. “My name is Akuma, I hail from the East. I’m not exactly familiar with these lands yet, so again I apologize for wandering on your property.”

“I fully agree. What does Akuma know about love after making out with everyone while we were together. Do tell this Sesshomaru.”

Image

“And here I thought this was already over with. Ah, oh well. I’ll just have to explain again. I did make a mistake, I’m not saying it wasn’t my fault, and I was sorry for it, but it was never 'everyone’. Only one. I admit I might have panicked and acted out of that anxiety, but it was never to hurt you.

Unlike your words that were clearly directed towards hurting me.”

“Huh? What are you?” She asked curiously, although she seemed to show no signs of fear at the information. “They tested me. They said I was human, but I don’t know. They ran tests while they had me locked up and said it came out fine.” She explained. “I should have someone with me, but my bird flew away, and I couldn’t just let him go, so I ran off. They’ll get mad, but I don’t care as long as he’s safe.” She said with a smile.
“That we know of that’s the only way. They kill us so quickly it’s hard to gather information on them. We can’t get too close most of the time, and we don’t have enough resources to test much either.” She sighed, “but so far that’s the only way to kill them.”

“I’m a Daiyokai, you see.... And being tested on sounds very unpleasant. If you wish I can escort you back so you don’t get in trouble. Technically I was with you. Maybe not for the entire time, but they don’t need to know that, do they?” Besides, if they put up a fight, things might get fun. Either way it beat her just wandering around.

“That and I could be of service to you, you know. You say you have a rough time surviving around them, and yet I’ve been out here for ages and none have ever bothered to even look for me. I could always gather information for you.”
