Noah shook their head and dipped a cheesy bread stick into the marinara sauce. “Nothing that needs you to look at it. I’m pretty sure the antique doll,” their mouth twitched in amusement as Chloe made a face, “wasn’t actually cursed or possessed. It was creepy as hell though.” “All those kinds of dolls are creepy,” Chloe muttered dryly as she stabbed at her salad with her fork.

I saw a very blunt Instagram comment today that told a writer, "AI is going to steal your job soon. You may want to choose something else." It was so nonchalant and casual, like what was just said wasn't heartbreaking to hear.

Can we writers just make a pact just to... not quit? Can we not give in so easily? Can we actually fight to keep our professions and continue to share our own original work? I will never expect writing to be my main source of income, but that does not mean I'm so willing to give it up for the sake of some robot.

#AI writing sucks#i don't want to read anything written by a robot#it will never be as good as something written by an actual person#ai will never be better than what real people can create

Rewrite:

The icy fear wiggled its way through his chest, thrashing about his ribs like a terrifying living thing.

My line:

Staying up late last night trying to decipher those pages was not looking like the best idea with the headache still pressing behind her eyeballs.

That, hm, that's a hard one. Definitely not editing. XD I still groan and whine every time I think about having to edit. And going back to take notes always feels so draining. (And, wow, I have been failing hard at do that lately. I really need to sit down and do that, but I keep putting it off.)

Maybe rewriting? Once I finally figured out how to let go of a first draft. XD And I'm glad I did because I finally nailed a version of one story that I really liked, which really helped with the stories to followed after it.

I made a little thing for my friend @akiwitch about the amazing story that they are working on! It caught me from the very first image and has been on my mind since!

Silver twists and rosemary twigs,

Keep the Shadows at bay.

Or else upon the pure white snow,

The crimson blood will lay.

Grab the lanterns, hold them close,

The winter nights are long.

Too many dangers ride the dark

So keep your courage strong.

Stay out of forests dark and deep,

Where secrets hide and grow.

And devious Shadows lie in wait

For those who leave the glow.

Two hearts drawn close against all odds

Start blooming with love's light.

But will they or the Shadows win,

As they stand against the night.

This is from Brynn's story (I really need to think up some titles. I've got like 3 stories now without titles).

Brynn breathed out slowly and leaned her head back against the wall with a quiet thump. She wished she could just forget everything that happened. Her hand found her necklace, rolling the beads between her fingers. They were silent. For the moment, she remained safe. After a couple of quiet minutes, she stood and walked over to the window. She parted the curtains, letting in the morning light. Townsfolk were already up and moving about, their voices reaching her as they stopped to chat in the street. Letting the curtains fall closed again, she moved to wake Ellie.
