I watched this scene for the first time about a week after building a Barbarian for Pathfinder 2 Playtest that i had named...Phil. I about died.

Please stop calling me out.

This was written about me personally. 

I did an experiment. I went to our local grocery store and I apologized to every person I walked past. “Ope! Sorry!” And every single person said, “Oh no, you’re fine!” Nobody asked me what I was sorry for. It was just kind of assumed that I was sorry for existing, and if that isn’t the most midwestern thing I’ve ever heard of, I don’t know what is.

Nebraskan here. Can confirm this is all true.

depending on dialect this could be ‘i dont really know what problem you beleive you have but you are doing okay sweetie’ or ‘i have percieved nothing youve done as wrong, dont worry’ or ‘im going to ignore your problems because they arent relevant and/or your problem is only percieved’

When I use “oh no, you’re fine” it usually means: “whatever you did (or think you did) did not inconvenience me and/or did not offend me at all so there is no need to feel bad or worry but thank you for being conscientious”  and then the being sorry for existing is just sort of implied. Especially in the winter.
