And now, again, you expect me to jump at the sound of your voice? For What?  Hero fighting hero…how often must that dreary dance be played?  If you want my help in “hexing” my friends into compliance, I refuse.  No, if this is a “war,” as you say, then consider me Switzerland.

“Come with me. We can make this work.” Cap shook his head. “I can’t.” “Staying together is more important than how we stay together.” Cap looked down. “But what are we giving up to do it?” Natasha studied Cap’s expression of resolve. Finally, she said, “In Russia, in the Red Room, there were dozens of us. All girls, all young. We lived together. They let us be friends. Then they dropped us in the tundra, two weeks’ walk from home, with just enough supplies for one of us to survive.” Cap looked at her, understanding her meaning. “Don’t let them push us into the cold,” she said. “Natasha, I know what we mean to you. I do,” said Cap softly. “You mean the same to me…” Natasha smiled at that. “But I’m sorry. I’m out.” [-Civil War Junior Novelization]
