Who is freaked out and amazed and loves that it’s been four years!!! since the Veronica Mars movie was released? I thought it was high-time to resurrect an anniversary week celebration. Since we’re a couple months removed from the wonderful @vmheadquarters holiday-ficathon, let’s get some more of that sweet, sweet, Logan and Veronica fic. Are you with me!?!?

Then hold onto your butts, because Logan & Veronica AU Week* is coming! We’ll start celebrating on the anniversary of the movie premiere and continue through the following week: Wednesday, March 14th to Tuesday, March 13th!

Let’s celebrate all things Alternative Universe!Logan & Veronica. Fics, gifsets, graphics, meta,  edits, fanart, fan mixes…you create it and we will freak!

Interpret the days below (also listed up in the header) however you like. In fact, use the days themselves as merely suggestions. Not particularly inspired by fusion fic but are inspired by something else? Then, baby, go for it! Please feel free to post whatever you wish, whenever you wish! 

Most importantly: tag everything #LV AU Week in the first five tags so all those who love these two idiots can see and track.

Day 1: Crossover or Fusion Fic (Logan & Veronica mixed with your favorite movies, tv shows, comics, books)

Day 2: Canon Divergence (As themselves in altered canon storylines)

Day 3: Beloved Tropes (Friends to lovers! Mutual pining! Bed-sharing! Found family!) 

Day 4: Role Reversal (Detective Logan! Navy Pilot Veronica! Gender Swap!)

Day 5: Another Time Period (Pre-series AU! Victorian-Era Logan and Veronica! Post-Mr. Kiss & Tell future! Logan and Veronica in the Year 3000!)

Day 6: Holiday AU! (Pick a holiday, any holiday - Valentine’s Day? Great! Arbor Day? Let’s plant a tree!)

Day 7: “You Should Only Wear This” (Make it sweet, make it smutty, make it refer to their astronaut suits since they’re co-workers in space, just find a way to incorporate the famed movie quote into your fic.)

VM Rewatch

Double header! We’re finishing up the last two episodes of Season 3 tonight in preparation for watching the movie next Monday, and then starting fresh with Season 1 in 2017.

Hey Pitches,

Ginny Baker’s season still hasn’t been secured by FOX yet and we can’t afford to stand by without letting them know how important her return is to us.

In episode 1x04 Ginny Baker’s fans made videos urging MLB to #PutHerInTheGame for the All-Star game. We want to do the same urging FOX and MLB to #KeepHerInTheGame. Starting today and through January 2, 2017 we are asking that all fans of the show send a short video of yourself saying #KeepHerInTheGame to Renewpitch@gmail.com. The videos will be put together and put on Twitter to show FOX, MLB and the cast and crew how much we want Ginny back for her next season!

Let’s get creative and show Fox and MLB just how passionate Ginny Baker’s fans are.

DO:

·         Be creative!

·         Include family and friends in your videos. You can say #KeepHerInTheGame solo or include others. Anyone really.

·         Be careful! Please don’t do anything dangerous for that perfect video.

·         Ideas include standing outside of the gates of your local ballpark if you have one in your area. Wearing baseball or official MLB gear if you have any. These are just suggestions and NOT requirements. We really just want you to be a part of the campaign!

·         Please shoot your video landscape style (horizontally) with your phone. It fills out the screen better than shooting it vertically.

·         Write #KeepHerInTheGame on paper, posters, or anything else you can think of creatively. Again this is NOT a requirement, but similar to what was done in the original video from episode 1x04.

·         Share this campaign over and over on Tumblr or with anyone who might be interested in helping.

·         KEEP ANY MENTION OF THIS OFF OF OTHER SOCIAL MEDIA SITES LIKE TWITTER AND FACEBOOK. WE DON’T WANT THE CAST AND CREW TO KNOW ABOUT THIS UNTIL THE VIDEO DROPS. PLEASE DO NOT POST THIS LINK TO TWITTER OR FACEBOOK. PRETTY PLEASE.

Pitch Fanfic Writers

I know there have been a few Spring Training fics written lately. I’m not sure if everyone knows this, but pitchers and catchers always report for spring training a few days before everyone else.

So, if you are writing Bawson fic, you might find that info useful. It means Ginny and Mike (and Livan and the other pitchers) would be there for several days before the rest of the team. Several reasons for this, but mostly it’s because the relationship between the pitchers and catchers are more important than the ones between the other teammates. The pitchers need the extra practice for their arms, but the pitchers and catchers need extra time to build up a rapport. An interesting quote about the pitcher/catcher relationship:

“The pitcher and catcher relationship is a constant. One might argue that while baseball is a game of nine against nine, at most points in a game, it’s two against one — pitcher and catcher against batter.”

There is a reason that they had Mike be the catcher, it was to make sure he would spend more time with Ginny and be closer to her than most of the others.

Editing to add Spring Training dates for this year, pitchers and catchers for the Padres report on Valentine’s Day.

Catching Fire

I’ve heard a lot about the longing gazes Mike directors towards Ginny, but I haven’t seen all that much about the moment when Ginny turns back to watch Mike and Rachel walk down the hallway and it is so important.

Seriously folks, these are the eyes of self-contained heartbreak.

Ginny is just as drawn to and enamored by Mike as he is to her.

While they may be at different stages of their lives/careers, they are both experiencing very similar situations and realities; trying to find their place in their changed worlds, define (or redefine)  themselves, dealing with their limitations, discovering meaning outside of baseball.

There are definite parallels or rhyming to their respective story lines.

Really, they’re cut from the same cloth and their similarities are especially apparent in regards to how they deal with attraction and feelings. I mean right after the hallway scene Ginny essentially uses Noah as a distraction exactly like Mike used Amelia in episode 102.

Ginny and Mike have learned to keep their deeper feelings close to their chests and to avoid exposing their vulnerable underbellies. They have lost or felt betrayed by almost everyone they were ever really close to.

This particular similarity may keep them apart initially, might make them go after people that present lower stakes and risks, and I can understand that some viewers were disappointed by the turn of events in the Pitch finale. I guess for myself, it actually kind of makes me hopeful though.

Ultimately, I think this scene showed us again, and in no uncertain terms, not only how similar the two are, but how mutual the attraction and connection is. At the end of the day, they are the only ones who can really understand and read each another with precision.

Like a plant turns ever towards the sun, Ginny Baker and Mike Lawson will ALWAYS be drawn back to one other. They just light each other up.

I know, right?

I have a lot of feelings about this moment (and lbr, practically all their scenes in this movie). Firstly, I love how soft he looks here. His expression is touchingly nervous, excited and just the right amount of sweet. That totally worth it is such a kid thing to say and he preempts and upends her expected quip over his extravagance by saying it. It’s just the truth.

That Veronica one side up first involuntary smile underscores the moment beautifully. They’ve barely in each other’s presence and she’s already disarmed.
