I myself have been waiting for YEARS! I am soooo happy that Gil finally got the rank-up he deserves, I do think they will give him one more rank-up with a crit buff.
And Clay with battery! they really needed that! Though the cooldown is kinda yikes. People will have to choose between debuff cleanse + heal and NP.

again i dont understand while people seem to think that proto merlin is the spawn of satan while merlin is a saint it just makes no sense to me
The reasons people give are basically the result of her not being able to have a time to open up to anybody. Or even any particular reason to. But from what we see from her voice lines particularly in lady Avalon, most of the complaints that she doesn't feel regrets or doesn't have attachments isn't really true.
At some level she's almost the exact opposite of Fate Merlin. While in fate, Merlin tried to be human and it ate him up, in prototype Merlin tried to distance herself from humans and it ate her up. They essentially try to use different strategies and it failed both times. Because no matter what fans want to proclaim, she clearly does care for Arthur. But her relationship was more of a friend than a mother, and people expecting her to have been Arthur's mother get upset. Mostly because they haven't read fragments or Arthur says she's a friend of 10 years, and while he sometimes gets annoyed he seems to fully understand and be fine with her antics.
But yeah, you're right both have the exact same reason for helping humanity. They find humans fun. That's the reason. There isn't anything else to it. Proto's just a little more blunt about it.
I'd agree with everything here. But in reality, Arthur himself isn't exactly Genderflipped Artoria, and honestly couldn't be. And it's implied Arthur had a different relationship with his Mordred and possibly his knights. So it's not surprising that he has a different relationship with Proto Merlin.
But when you see her as Arthur's friend, it makes total sense why he treats her the way he does, and why she acts the way she does towards him. Of course she teases him, he's both her old friend and needs SOMEONE who doesn't put him on a pedestal of 'the perfect king'.
I hope later fate things (and whatever they're doing after LB 7 expands on her a little. (I'd like both Merlins built on a little, but at least Fate had Babylonia to expand on him).
As someone who likes mainline Merlin but not Proto Merlin-
The dissonance is because mainline Merlin isn't written properly.
This isn't to say he's bad or anything...but that's kind of the problem. Merlin, according to most of the characters who know him, should be a douchebag of the highest order who only really cares about himself. He SHOULD be a bad person whose only tolerated because of his skills.
But his actual writing doesn't convey that kind of character. A big deal is made of how he's inconsistent and unreliable but when shit goes down, Merlin's right there helping out. He's supposed to not care about people in general but you don't get to see that. You mostly see him interacting with Ritsuka or about Arturia, who are exceptions to that rule. He's supposed to be an obnoxious guy but his trolling is always portrayed as humorous and harmless, not to mention that he almost always gets punished for it.
Proto Merlin causes these reactions because the Merlin character in general is supposed to. The first Merlin doesn't because a lot of his more negative qualities aren't communicated properly.
I think it's not that Merlin isn't written properly, but that Fate has the time to convey that there is more to him. You get to really see him and work with him in Babylonia, and he's always helping and working with you, as well as having implications that he's been fueling Chaldea the whole time.
ProtoMerlin isn't all that different. The only difference is that she's had no real reason or time to be characterized. ProtoMerlin's only really had arcade where you worked with her, and she's more speedrunning through everything. And in the latest summer, she's more or less hiding who she is.
Even in Arcade when Fate Merlin pops over, Arthur basically says both Merlins are the same. They cause trouble, but clean up their messes, and are usually helping.
Okay, there seems to be some kind of miscommunication here and people seem to really love shit talking me in the reblogs so excuse me-
My point is not 'Proto Merlin doesn't have any depth' nor that 'Merlin has more depth therefore he's bad.'
It's 'the game keeps telling me Merlin is a shady douche but mainline Merlin does not act like a shady douche so Proto Merlin, who does, kind of has to be better written.'
Time and time again, the game keeps telling me through other characters that he's a dick and he doesn't care about other people. But he never acts that way. We see him trying to be kind, helpful, remorseful and showing concern for others. So when Gawain says that he'd help get rid of him while never showing anything to warrant such a thing, I either take this as Gawain being a douche (which would imply numerous other characters are douches too, even those who don't make sense) or that the game failed to sell the idea of Merlin being a douche, which makes the most sense to me.
I don't like Proto Merlin in part due to her lack of screentime development true but she does sell the idea that she deserves her reputation. (This doesn't make her evil or whstever). Which I feel would make the humor around her better.
Tl;Dr- when the game makes a joke about Proto Merlin being a dick, I don't cringe.
When the game does the same with Merlin, I cringe and open my wish there were more characters like Bradamante and Britomart who gave him some respect.
Proto Merlin lives up to her reputation while Merlin does not like kob mentioned. Our Merlin likes the stories that humans tell. Proto Merlin on the hand...
Proto Merlin also straight up dipped when the Romans were coming. Proto Merlin just loves to watch humans suffer without getting involved while Merlin is not like that, despite what he may tell you.

Lucius Tiberius is one of my favorite characters in all of TYPE-MOON I would like to talk a bit about him today, and what little bit of lore we have for him. I find that he is misinterpreted by some members of the fandom, because honestly, the content for him is hard to find, and those that do hold said content don’t necessarily want to upload it onto the internet.
So the first point, is that he is a Roman Emperor in TYPE-MOON! I have seen others say that he’s technically not a Roman emperor because he never existed, but neither did Arthur Pendragon so unless we’re keeping that same energy for him, then I am going off the assumption that he was an actual Roman Emperor in Nasuverse lore.
He obviously fought Artoria as well, as Bedivere took up the name of Lucius during the Camelot singularity. But we don’t know what that fight was like, or if they actually got along. It’s unclear. If someone has a better idea, then please, link me to sources.
That being said, Lucius is an extremely strong person. He had allies that included the king of the Greeks Epistrophius, the king of the African people Mustansar, the king of the Hispanics Aliphatma, the king of Egypt Pandras, the king of Babylonia Micipisa, and the king of Bithynia Polydetes. He commands beasts, magi, mages from the Far East, and Shamans.
He is also a genius tactician, and can even fight hand-to-hand easily with the use of martial arts. He strikes fear into the Rakshasa, which tells me he conquered all the way into India. He fought Gawain and Bedivere at the same time without breaking a sweat as well.
Merlin even disappeared once she heard that Lucius was on his way. Saying, “If that’s the case, then see your dream through. You can probably win in your dreams.”
As far as Lucius conquering Britain… That is just standard practice as far as Rome goes. Arthur even states that: “The great majestic roman empire who was proud of its power since the pre-era, was trying to further extend its evil influence from the lands of Gallia――――and it was the great continental empire that was starting to meddle with the Isle of Britain in the form of providing relief for the huge phenomenon called the racial transmigration of the Saxons.”
Gallia, or Gaul, was a province in the Empire for a long long time. Julius Caesar was the first Roman general to ever fully pacify Gaul. With that in mind, Britain, or Briton was also a Roman province for a good while until the Romans eventually abandoned it, as it was no longer profitable.
For Lucius to not go and confront Arthur would be considered odd. The empire probably heard of the Saxons moving into Briton, and thought it would be the best time to attack. I’m not sure. We won’t know for sure unless Lucius someday gets put into FGO.
I have also seen others say that he is a discount version of Gilgamesh, because, and I truly believe, for no other reason than he enjoys fighting Arthur and he is arrogant. Ozymandias often gets hit with the same comparison, but that is another post for another day.
Firstly, at least, as far as I personally know, Gilgamesh was never a warmonger in the manner that Lucius or let’s say, Caesar or Iskander was.
Secondly, Lucius Tiberius thinks of himself as a god. He flaunts that he is Romulus-Quirinus’ descendant, with, quote: “My divine ancestor Romulus was said to have died by disappearing into lightning! If that’s true, then there is no question of doubt that I the current roman emperor can wield the lightning itself!”
If Lucius is a discount Gilgamesh, then I am expecting him to curse gods, not actively worship Flora, his patron goddess, or Romulus, his ancestor.
