I WANT to say that there will be more comics occasionally, but realistically there probably won’t be (at least any time soon).  I’m really focusing on my illustration work for school, and this summer I’ll be doing a full-time art internship.  So, if I have any creative juice left at the end of the day I’m going to want to dedicate it to illustration, rather than comics.  

However!  Like I said at the end of 2014, there might come a time where I want to tackle comics again, and Darning-Socks is where I’ll come back if I do.  And I’m definitely going to participate in Hourly Comics Day every year on twitter!  I’ll be around.  I hope to see you all around as well

Hi everyone,

As you might remember, I took the month of April off from doing my daily comics because my illustration work was suffering because of my comics (and illustration is my true passion).

Basically immediately after I took a break from drawing Darning-Socks, my illustrations improved again, I broke out of my art rut, and I started enjoying drawing again.  My skin is clear, my crops are thriving, the sun it out (and all that).  I think it's pretty clear what the culprit of my art rut was.  Unfortunately, this means that I won't be resuming with daily comics.

Thank you all so much for your support in this second foray into the world of daily comics.  You can keep tabs on my illustration work, if you like, @mariykaauber.

I’m going on hiatus!

Hi everyone!

Yikes, I really hate posting this.  There are some changes I want to address for you guys.  I've discovered that making Darning-Socks is both changing my illustration style and putting pressure on my daily activities.  I don't mind the extra pressure, but the fact that I'm now having a hard time drawing things that DON'T look like my Darning-Socks style is really bothering me.  I think I need to step back for a little bit, do some life drawing and real-life art studies, and reevaluate this project.  So, I'm taking the month of April off, and at the end of April I'm going to see whether or not I think it's the best idea to return to creating Darning-Socks.

I want to thank you all so much for your support so far.  It was a risk starting Darning-Socks again now that I'm in college, because I wasn't sure what it would be like to balance my illustration work and this hobby comic. Thank you so much for understanding, you guys!  Illustration is my true passion, and unfortunately I have to prioritize it over Darning-Socks, which is a hobby.  If you want to follow the illustrations I do in the mean time, my art tumblr is @mariykaauber​ , and I’m always on twitter (twitter.com/MariykaAuber).
