FYI, I’m moving to a new url: gyros-helper. Please follow me over there if you want to keep seeing my posts!

tl;dr explanation: When I created this blog originally I didn’t understand how tumblr worked or what sideblogs were, and I ended up with two accounts and a bunch of sideblogs haphazardly scattered between them. I’m consolidating everything now, but unfortunately as this is my “main” blog on this account I can’t transfer it. So I’m replacing it. This blog will remain up as an archive, but all new content and reblogs will be posted to the new url.

Well I'm here to bring you good news: canonically (based on a comic once published) Donald is the most important thing to Scrooge. Magica does a spell to get the first dime, casting it "to get the most important thing to Scrooge" and Donald appears in her arms. It's one of my favs but it was so long ago. If I can find it I'll send it to you (translated).

Thoughts on the new DuckTales info:

  • I’m really curious about the mystery surrounding the rift between Scrooge and Donald, and I’m excited that the new show is going to explore their relationship a bit.
  • I agree with @sarroora that it seems likely there’s going to be some parallel to the L&T in there, with Donald playing the role of Hortense & Matilda
  • The trailer implied that Scrooge has not been actively adventuring in a long time – I wonder if he stopped because Donald left, or for some other reason?
  • Scrooge and Donald finding something to unite them in their mutual hatred of Gladstone sounds a-maaaa-zing
  • This version of Goldie has the last name “O’Gilt” – more Rosa influence
  • It’s been stated that Scrooge and Goldie still met during the gold rush in this continuity. I wonder if the show will address the fact that both of them must be over 100 years old?

If their intention was to make him look like a maximum douche, I think they succeeded. :P

As for how I found that post on Frank Angones’ blog, well, there’s this site siikr that will let you search anyone’s tumblr. I just searched on the word “horrify” and that post came out.

In Season 5, Episode 5, “Chapter 57” of “House of Cards,” President Francis Underwood (Kevin Spacey) explains the…well, that would be a SPOILER…by invoking Donald Duck, Professor Batty, and the philosophy of flipism (in front of the Washington Monument, no less).

As a fan of both Carl Barks and “House of Cards,” it gave me the same kind of thrill I got a few years ago when “Breaking Bad” referenced Scrooge McDuck.

Here’s a sneak preview of DuckTales #1 that was just released. Strangely, they decided to make the last page of the story their preview? Interesting choice, but don’t need to nitpick. Yet.

I’m still hearing Russi Taylor as the Nephews. It’s going to take a stint in Nostalgia Detox to cleanse my brain of her vocal stylizations…

This is the closest I’ve EVER seen the comic art style of these characters in animated form. It’s most obvious in Mickey, Gyro and Goofy! I also spy Gladstone amongst the lineup 😆. I’d love to know the story behind this video as well. We’re both these videos early exploration of what would become the art style for Ducktales?

The second one isn’t a test -- it was (I believe) the actual intro to some Italian Disney anthology show. It’s also the only-ever animated appearance of several Italian comic book characters (Brigitta, Dickie, etc).
