idgaf what cutesy shit tumblr tries to pull for April Fools, this is still the same website where the multimillionaire CEO stalked a trans woman across multiple platforms because she bruised his fragile ego, where a moderator took bribes to delete accounts, where moderation disproportionately targets black, transfem, and pro-Palestinian bloggers, where literal hardcore heterosexual pornography can be both posted without consequence and actively advertised to users while trans women posting transition timelines get hit with the banhammer, where outright hate speech goes unpunished but an obvious shitpost results in the associated account's termination, and where its leadership advertises it as the queerest site on the internet while doing all of the above. No amount of silly goofy gimmicks will change that.

"crochet can't be made by machines" went from being a cool fun fact to being a call to action of "so if you see mass manufactured crochet in Target, that was made by a person and they were underpaid and you should boycott it" which is true, it was made by a person, but EVERY item of clothing you own (that you did not purchase from a company using ethical labor) was made by a person being underpaid (at *best*.)

Sewing machines are operated by *people*. Knitting machines are operated by *people*. Yes lots of the process is automated but you cannot tell a machine "make me a t-shirt" or "make me a knit cardigan".

Higher awareness of fast fashion, and the true human labor and abuse behind it, is GREAT, but let's not pretend that the crochet hat in target is THE problem. Every article of clothing in target is the problem. "All clothes are made by people" is the jumping off point here into understanding this issue it's not just crochet it's the whole thing ahhhhHHHHHHHHHH

the booping is cute and all but lets not forget the violent transmisogyny and antiblackness of this site. ok

“thanks for ruining the joke, i bet you’re fun at parties” sorry for not wanting people to brush over staff’s shitty actions. especially on trans day of visibility

To be clear to those unfamiliar: these are the companies that libraries use to lend ebooks.

They are literally cutting off library access to minors.

If you are affected by this or other bans and restrictions in the United States, be aware that the Brooklyn Public Library is offering free digital library cards to anyone age 13-21 nationwide as part of their Books UnBanned initiative:

the way the war in gaza has been constantly about targeting flour, targeting hospitals, targeting universities, targeting water containers, targeting anything that brings life in order to "thin out the population" and "encourage palestinians to move to tent cities in egypt"

and then you have western media readily calling it a "humanitarian crisis" therefore fulfilling israel's goal of manufacturing a humanitarian crisis. this entire war was with the purpose of collectively punishing a civilian population of 50% children. that's why it was immediately understood and labelled as a genocide by multiple genoide scholars, by the lemkin institute, and is currently on trial for genocide at the hague

like the starvation and the blocking of aid and the dropping of parachuted MREs to just barely salvage the reputation of a few politicians is not a byproduct of the war. it's not collateral damage. it is a central pillar of the genocide. acquiescing to israelis blocking aid by building ports and dropping pallets of food means acquiescing to famine as a strategy instead of trying to stop it. famine is not collateral damage, it is a central pillar of genocide. killing children is not collateral damage. it is a central pillar of the genocide. we don't need hindsight to say this plainly, anyone who denies it now is another pillar of genocide.

The ACLU has launched a petition against Mastercard’s policies on adult content!

Mastercard put into effect a new policy regulating adult content sellers that makes it extremely hard for sex workers to earn a living online. It must be stopped.
The policy itself imposes strict and invasive requirements on adult content websites using Mastercard’s financial services – including pre-approval of all content before publication, forbidding certain search terms, and monitoring the age and identity verification process for all performers.

Sex workers’ livelihoods shouldn’t depend on the whims of corporations. Numerous banks and companies already single out sex workers – forcing them to pay higher fees and interest rates. And public platforms like PayPal and Venmo continue to boot sex workers off their platforms with little due process.

Laws and policies like these – that criminalize and stigmatize sex work – make sex workers more vulnerable to abuse by clients, law enforcement, and others who target and harass sex workers or those perceived as sex workers, particularly trans women of color.

Mastercard’s latest actions are only a continuation of this history of discrimination and it must be stopped: Sign this petition telling Mastercard to reverse its discriminatory policy now.

love every trans woman you meet before its too late

Fucking GONE just like that because a grown ass man found a facetious "threat" by a trans woman barely into her 20s so utterly intolerable that not only is nearly every trace of her existence on this site wiped out he's spending his Monday night DMing other trans woman to convince them she deserved it.

I've barely known Rita 2 months and I was THIS close to never meeting her at all, and I'm going to spend every moment from now on loving her and every one of my sisters even harder than before because I do not know when or where yet another hateful pathetic excuse of a human will try to erase us from existence again.
