ID: Photo of a street corner; cars are parked on one side, and buildings on the other. Centered is a large cherry tree in full bloom, covered in pink blossoms, lit from behind by the sun.
Already posted this on Bluesky, and I like it so much you get to see too. I don't usually take good photos. That's mostly bc I'm a) too cheap and lazy to bother keeping up with the latest tech, and b) too slow on the draw to catch good shots. I always get entranced by the ephemeral moment, start thinking the kind of weird-ass thoughts that sometimes lead to novels, and then I remember to grab my cellphone ten minutes later. Anyway, this is with a Samsung Galaxy S22, portrait mode. And I got lucky.

Solar Eclipse Shadows
These solar eclipse shadows form due to the distance between the sun and the leaves on the trees. The distance and the proximity of the leaves to one another cause for a "lensing" type effect, making the eclipse shadow clearer to the human eye.

Distant Utopia - from ひきだしにテラリウム (Terrarium in a Drawer) by Ryoko Kui
now that Dungeon Meshi has an official English translation, i hope someday Kui’s other work will get translated too. this anthology was really good, and this story was one of my favorites
this is getting a lot of reblogs lately and i’m so glad. i know people hype Ryoko Kui a lot but she really is that good at comics, and this 75%-tongue-in-cheek 10 7* page comic unironically showcases what makes all the politics and worldbuilding in Dungeon Meshi so good. some one please publish her other short stories in English please please please
