quirking a brow, his smirk only growing, he chuckles softly.                   ❛ i didn’t know i needed to bribe you.❜ he teases.

’ ’ if i ever apply for a job i’ll make sure to list ’ made a baby ’ under my list of accomplishments, alongside ’ married the love of my life ’ and ’ learned how to do a handstand ’ although i can’t prove that last one, at least, not for another two months. ’ ’ annie begins to shift on the couch ( no small task at her size ) until her legs are resting on his lap. she’s about to intertwine her hand in his when she winces in pain, clutching the side of her stomach where their child just aimed a v i c i o u s kick. ’ ’ ow. see there’s a reason i’ve become mostly sedentary. && it’s not because i’m LAZY. ’ ’

            his smile grows wider before a laugh squeezes between his teeth.             ❛ don’t forget making a killer breakfast. that’s sure to get you any job             you want. ❜ one arm lays over top of her legs, curling around her             ankles while the other reaches to grasp hers. that is, until she’s pulling             away to grab her swollen belly with a hint of pain etched on her features. 

            his hand follows suit, fingers splaying over the peak of her stomach,             worry furrowing his eyebrows. ❛ little guy’s just ready to meet us, is             all. been cooped up in there long enough. ❜ his tone was teasing,             his expression softening in the slightest as he looked back to her. 

             “We will. But for now we gotta play by the book or Snow will burn four and burn us.”

                ❛          i don’t want to go back into that arena.❜

          he could see it, her eyes were darkening before him. glazing           over with the images her mind would succumb to. he wished that           he could have assured her, confirmed the future for her. but that           wasn’t how this worked. SURVIVING. it wasn’t easy. & in his           experience, it never would be. he couldn’t lie to her, he wouldn’t.           she deserved more than that. 

          breath hitches in his throat as her hand encircles his, her grip fast &           tight beneath the water. suddenly, he found himself gripping back           with the same fervor. he was afraid that if he let go, she might           disappear beneath the waves forever. guilt flooded his veins, eyes           softening & brows furrowing in worry. 

          his free hand rises to rest at the juncture of her neck & shoulder,           the other tugging her hand the slightest bit closer. he needed her           attention. ❛ hey, hey      annie, don’t leave me. just look at me.           stay here with me, right here. ❜

              ‘but they made me a victor. the moment i won i became the capitol’s property. we all did. this rebellion, it’s just going to get people killed, it’s not helping anyone.’ 

                ❛ you don’t mean that. you might THINK you do, but you                   don’t. we wouldn’t be doing this if it didn’t mean something. ❜

~ Annie sighs softly. Of course Finnick knew. They were so in tune to each other hardly anything went unnoticed. And she loved that about him.

“M'okay.” She murmurs, a little reluctantly.

“Much better now.” She says with with a slight smile, pressing a kiss to his neck.

She saw that the sun was starting to peek up over the horizon through the window, and she smiled at Finnick, pressing a gentle kiss to his lips.

“New day.” She murmurs, gently stroking his cheek.

            humming softly as her lips press to his neck, the sound reverberating             in his chest, he lets one hand trail over her back in a practiced pattern.             the sun had set a warm glow into the room, and that glow was only             reiterated in her smile. despite the horrors in her mind, the luminosity             of her smile never faltered. he smiled against her lips before she could             pull away, blinking softly in the light. ❛ a new day, ❜ he echoed. ❛ how             do you want to spend it? ❜

“They’re so cute, Finnick,” the girl said with a small content smile. “But I was looking for her because I wanted to show her the thing I built!”

            a chuckle escaped him as he looked to her, nodding             once in agreement. ❛ i guess that’s what you could call             ‘em.❜ he teased, smile morphing into a familiar smirk.              ❛ the thing you built? well, you could show me. ❜

“Well, maybe. Though that might have to do with what exactly you consider a secret.”

                 ❛ you’d be surprised, the things i know. ❜ he smirked. ❛ i’m all ears. ❜

“Plenty.” George took a sip from his glass. “Why so interested? Just looking for entertainment? Asking strangers for deep dark secrets.” He let out a small chuckle before taking off his glasses, “Why don’t you have a drink with me? Perhaps then you’ll be deserving of a secret or two.”

                  ❛ i guess you could say they entertain me. ❜ he offered, a crooked smile rising to his lips. ❛ a drink, huh? making me earn my keep. offer accepted. ❜

               ❛ i would expect nothing but the best from you, miss trinket. ❜

               ❛ doesn’t mean you can’t entertain me. ❜

annie is NOTHING if not mature. so she does what any mature person would do in her place ;; she sticks her tongue out at him, && blows a raspberry. within a few seconds however, her expression softens, && she’s grabbing a hold of finnick’s hand to place it against the place where their little fish is fluttering about. ’ ’    this is so strange ;; to have someone growing in there. it’s even weirder when you realized created them.     ’ ’

                   eyebrows raise in response to her childish retort, a laugh escaping him. quite the adult, his wife was. but his expression mirrors hers as his hand moves to her belly, fingers overlaying the subtle movement beneath his touch. it didn’t matter how many times he felt it, an expression of wonder never failed to grace his face. a wide smile, bright eyes, & a shake of his head agrees easily. he’d never imagined they would get this far. ❛ we made that. all by ourselves. i’d say we’re pretty accomplished.❜

                 “You expected something else? Snow wants us to                  kill each other so he doesn’t look bad.”

                     ❛ his entire existence is ironic. district twelve figured out how to run around the rules, we’ve gotta do the same thing.❜

~ Annie blushed gently, tucking some hair behind her ear.

“I was just…getting some water.”

No entirely true. She’d woken up in a cold sweat, a terrible night terror pushing her out of bed, needing space.

She hated bothering him with this. She hated how often she had to.

But she snuggled into him now, hoping his warmth and his arms and just him would chase away any darkness from her mind.

“I hope I didn’t wake you”~

                   he smiled softly, shifting to pull her into his arms. he knew very well why she’d gotten up. the moment she’d stirred, he’d woken up. by now, it was habit. but by now, he understood. he was just grateful that she always came back. pressing his lips to her forehead, he sighed quietly as she settled in. ❛ don’t worry about me. ❜ he voiced. ❛           are you okay? ❜
