Could you take your pfp in a fight? Send to the last 5 people in your notifications. (you don’t have to send it out if you don’t want to)

I think if I were to meet Scotty we'd be much more likely to have a drink and chat shit about James Tiberius Perfect-Hair and Spock than fight. Also depending on who you ask either Jaylah or his boyfriend Bones would kill me for trying to fight him

if you're so lucky that he lets you know his heart, be careful how you hold it. if you're so worried that the afterlife is dark, then make sure that he knows this: he is loved, he is loved, he is loved.

It's amazing how many garbage takes could be avoided with a single Google search.

There are tons of amazing sculptors still working today.

I mean, has the internet already forgotten the hammerhead shark made out of hammerheads?

I feel like this is a good time to bring back this classic...

Don't be a dork ass loser.

fascists have always tried to control art. by labelling certain types of art as degenerate you control what kind of culture is seen as degenerate

Highlights from the conference room where they nominated contenders for Word of the Year 2023:

• They put Skibidi Toilet on the projector to explain what “skibidi” means.

• Baby Gronk was mentioned.

• We discussed the Rizzler.

• “Cunty” was nominated.

• “Enshittification” was suggested for EVERY category.

• “Blue Check” (like from Twitter) was briefly defined as “Someone who will not Shut The Fuck Up”

• The person writing notes briefly defined babygirl as “referencing [The Speaker]”. He is now being called babygirl in the linguist groupchats.

• MULTIPLE people raised their hand to say “I cannot stress this enough: ‘Babygirl’ refers to a GROWN MAN”

When technical issues occurred while voting on “kenaissance”, everyone had to reassure the speaker, Ben Zimmer, that he was “benough”

In a stunning upset, the last-minute nomination “(derogatory)” DEFEATS “cunty” as the most useful/most likely to succeed word of 2023.

Someone renominates “babygirl” for word of the year, saying that they have spent the past year trying to figure out if people are “little meow meows, blorbos, or babygirls”. This is in front of a room of hundreds of people.

ENSHITTIFICATION WINS WORD OF THE YEAR 2023

While verifying this was true (it is) I discovered that there is a wikipedia article on enshittification

Even though this means I'm going to end up with a poop emoji on my headstone, I'm ok with it.

UM.

FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO DON'T KNOW

@mostlysignssomeportents IS THE PERSON WHO COINED THE TERM "ENSHITTIFICATION"

Shoutout to all the people who work tirelessly to keep their fandoms going, even after canon has ended. Kudos to the mods who organize rewatches, fic challenges, and other fandom events. High fives to the people who keep posting new art, fic, meta, and headcanons. A collective pat on the back for the people who like, reblog, and comment on the new fanworks and remember the older works as well.

If you’re on Tumblr reading this, chances are good that you fall into one of these categories. So shoutout to YOU, and to all of us.

I feel confident enough to post these now. A collection of all the existing posters after some edits from the other post that got 13k notes! These are full size/quality. Go nuts.

You may use them for wallpapers, tabletop campaigns, whatever. Consider tipping me or buying a print or sticker on ko-fi here! If you do use them, let me know what for, or send pictures!

a fun side effect of "every trans man passes easily" is that it takes the narrative around transphobia aimed at trans men from "it's barely anything, you're just being whiny" to "you deliberately brought this on yourself by making it obvious to everyone around you that you aren't a real man just so you'd have something to complain about". For bonus points combine that with the idea that trans men "play up" their agab specifically to oppress trans women and you end up with "trans men facing transphobia is indicative of transmisogyny on the part of the trans man". And now you have carte blanche to tell any trans man you want to kill himself and gain trans ally points for it. follow for more life hacks

hope it's ok to highlight these tags from prev

I’m glad you liked them! If you don’t mind I’ll take the chance to expand a little. I think a lot of this comes from a pervasive shared pain in the trans community: in many—especially queer—spaces, womanhood/femaleness is seen as inherently safe and manhood/maleness is seen as inherently unsafe. To be treated as safe and allowed to participate in safe spaces and access certain resources (e.g. for sexual violence), you must connect yourself to womanhood — which of course frequently manifests as transphobia.

Trans women are usually nominally included in the spaces that exclude trans men. But in practice all transfems are held to extremely high standards to prove they’ve overcome their perceived maleness enough to become safe, and if they don’t meet them they’re treated as invasive men making others unsafe. Transmascs, especially those that can pass as cis men, are also treated as inherently dangerous and subject to the same “I hate men” “you’re an oppressor” “stay out of women’s spaces” types of comments. However some are still able to access those spaces, be treated as safe, and have their pain and oppression taken seriously, if and only if people can treat them as women. This sometimes does mean making themselves more feminine — this is not unique to trans men, queer cis men do this as well because they are pressured to.

This is not a good thing for transmascs. It is not a good thing for transfems. It is not good for non-binary folks that people treat as “woman-lite” or “basically just a man.” None of us deserve to be misgendered, for any reason, and this treatment is all transphobic. Femininity is not inherently safe and masculinity is not inherently unsafe. We desperately need to accept this or we will never be normal about TGNC folks, ever.

The idea that trans men who don't pass are "playing up their AGAB" also fucks over nonbinary/genderqueer people. Folks who push that narrative expect me to. what. make myself dysphoric by only ever dressing like a cishet guy & binding even though I don't want to? Because existing in the ways that make me comfortable mean I am more vulnerable to transphobia. Regardless of what people assume my assigned sex was, they can clock me as trans. But if I talk about that I'm uhh fetishizing my femaleness and LARPing as TMA for fun and I should just recloset myself or shut up about being vulnerable to transphobia.

It's always profoundly fucked up to act like nonbinary/genderqueer people are somehow taking the easy route or playing up their "AGAB privilege" when we just exist in ways that make us comfortable. And it's extra fucked up to respond to our experiences of discrimination with "well you're asking for it by CHOOSING to not pass!" I am not obligated to binarize my identity & presentation to make it easier for others to ignore my oppression. If your understanding of transphobia relies on telling trans people that they are to blame for being discriminated against, or that they have a misgendering fetish for being honest about how they are treated by society, that is a deeply unwell way of thinking.

But also it makes sense because these types of people also never want to admit that being nonbinary/genderqueer can have a profound affect on your life and how people treat you. The only experiences we are allowed to talk about are the ones that align us within the preferred binary of the week.

"I am not obligated to binarize my identity & presentation to make it easier for others to ignore my oppression."

the 2 bits that most stuck out to me:

republican laws that make exception for the life of the mother have a caveat: abortion can be given to save the life of the mother unless the risk to the mother is that she's suicidal. (that is: republicans already know that being forced to remain pregnant can make people become suicidal, and they dont care)

and

the only reason to force pregnant people to act as walking coffins (when republicans force people to carry nonviable pregnancies to term) is to reinforce the idea that a woman's job is to be pregnant.

(paraphrased slightly for clarity)

online communities are so strange because people slip away so easily. you can be on here for years, folding people you've never met into the fabric of your daily life, and then they disappear, leaving only ghost posts scattered across tumblr behind. or their blog stays dormant, for weeks, months, years, until you're only still following them because you remember that they love sunflowers or they were kind to you when they didn't have to be or the last thing they posted was sad and raw and you still worry about them sometimes.

and sometimes they come back when you least expect it, years later, even, and there's this sudden rush of relief like there you are, there you are, even though you barely knew each other.

there's a strange kind of love to it. i don't know you and i want to hold your hand across miles and time zones and oceans. i can still see the imprint of you in this community you left. you don't think anyone will notice or care when you're gone, but we notice and we care and we wish you well.

i hope you're all okay out there. i hope the sun is shining on your face and you are breathing deeply. i miss you.

Actual faith vs performative religion.

To shave your beard is a huge sacrifice for a devout Sikh. It is a sacrifice for the greater good, that many people will scoff at without understanding the amount of love it took, to give up part of your faith to serve the greater purpose of that faith. Bless them all.
