God, I wish I was a better/faster/more comfortable at sketching things, there's a million little doodle ideas I have that wouldn't be good enough for finished pieces but would make fun sketches...

But I'm very bad at sketching, it's something I need to work more on, but, ugh... I'm not even saying I'm super good at inking or polishing my works, but my sketchwork is just so awkward.

I re-read Bone over the weekend and I'm happy to report it holds up well

When it comes to food, neither is a fussy eater. Val loooves visiting different restaurants (and will happily pay for her friends as well) and is sorta foodie-adjacent. Food isn't really a "hobby" or anything, but if you have to eat, might as well enjoy it! Beriith is… not that. He doesn't really "like" like food. Like, he is capable of distinguishing between a badly cooked meal and well made one, but when it comes to types of food, he is indifferent. For him, food is just… there, and he needs to eat because he needs nutrients and calories. He can't really appreciate a good dinner for what it is. This, on the other hand, means that he is willing to go with any of Val's ideas.

I don't really draw Lady with her son (bet none of you even knew she had one!) and was hit by a need to finally do something about it. Actually, I meant to make this an answer to a character ask, but I ended up changing my mind and making it a separate piece instead.

I'm a bit lost as to what I want to do with the narrative of "Something Borrowed" (that's the "official" name of the fantasy story Beriith & Val are from I'm working on, the tag is "#project:a fantasy setting" because im bad at naming my projects)

Right now I'm kinda working on it as a series of (random order) vignettes (and pictures with lore dumps on), and it kinda works for me because I get to work on the scenes I wanna work on and not have to worry about 5 months of work I'd have to do to get to the scene I wanna work on.

But I would also like if there was like. A real linear narrative. And I think that would be easier for potential readers as well. Not that readers are my main priority (sorry this is my comfort project and very, very, very self-indulgent) but I like sharing my work and when I do, I generally want my stories to be at least somewhat accessible.

I'm not at the stage where I can seriously start any huge project just yet; I'm supposed to be graduating by the end of the year, so I have several large school related things, one of which is my thesis, coming up. So for the time being I will focus on making vignettes or other short and/or sketchy comics anyway.

dropping this here for future reference but if beriith didnt have white fetlock hair this is how it would work, just gradually thinning until it's just like... human-leg-hairy.

since the hair is white as is his skintone i just stylize the whole gradient away, but, like. this is how it works.

edit: dark fetlock hair is honestly a look but im too into the combination of dark hooves and white hair :(

Beriith doesn't have a last name :( nor does any of his people.

They use, like, "proto" last names, if needed. basically referring to each other by familiar ties (for example, "son of x and y", "child of x" or even "parent of x" if your kid is particularly renowned) or distinguishing traits or titles, but it hasn't really been standardized into a real system

And it's kind of a wild west out there because what they would use as their "last name" is also like... context dependent? So same person might be "[name], son of x" and also "[name] the pale-haired" and also "[name] from place z"   and also "[name] the ill-tempered"... basically I guess they have no last names OR infinite last names. Have fun dealing with that.

Anyway, unless Beriith meets another person named Beriith he will introduce himself as Beriith only.
