The Matron gave a quick shrug of her shoulders. “I suppose that you could say that, yes. But my contacts stretch across many of the nations, and keeping in intimate contact with them is a necessary, albeit rather dull, part of my duties.”
“You’re not the most trustworthy person.” Sarah replied, crossing her arms. “Enough filthy people with nasty intentions on the streets already, you understand? But if you’re looking for someone in particular, maybe I could help you cut your visit here shorter.”

Swiftly, he hit the woman in the ribs, briefly distracted by the distinct differences that would result from the attack. On the Rift, it apparently was like being hit with a pillow - only after thousands and thousands of attacks, did it really matter.
Off of the Rift, the blow would’ve shattered a few ribs, and Ekko would’ve walked away, clearly victorious.
The thought only distracted him from the awkward tension in the air for a few moments.
“So, uh…” He began, before attacking once more. “How many times are we gonna have to go through…” He trailed off, gesturing with his spare hand at first his sword, then, the two of them.
“This?”
“At least a couple times more, Ekko, dear.” She said, looking at her side. It hurt, that much was certain, but not badly enough to have her double over. Yet.
This was odd; talking over the fight as though they were having a pleasant little chat over tea and crumpets rather than a fight to the death in the middle of the Rift, with turrets guarding either side of the ‘playing’ field.
“Only until the spell keeping us grounded so to speak is lifted sufficiently, though. So not much longer, if that is any consolation.” If he hit her only a couple more times, she’d fall over and once again blink out of existence.
