Hi reposters!!! Stop uploading gifs that u randomly found online. U didn't make them. Idc if u can't find the original poster. THANK YOU!!! :)

Reporting all these blogs all the time is so annoying 👀👀👀 o well!!! :)

Why is it annoying ? It’s just a gif but I do understand if people are saying they made the gif that would be annoying but if it’s just a gif someone found online I don’t see a problem.

Any gif that you’ll find anywhere was made by someone. Especially if it’s a beautiful gif with a nice coloring and some effects on it or something. If you’re only using it as a reaction gif in a text post or something, then there’s no problem! But if you’re reposting it, meaning you post it here on tumblr as if you made it yourself, then it’s stealing.

I do understand that gifs are not content made from scratch like fanarts and fanfics, but it still takes a LOT of time to make them. I don’t think anyone realizes that until they try making gifs themselves. I usually spend 5-10 hours on the gifsets I make, when i could be spending that time doing anything else. It’s not a really big deal when the repost doesn’t get a lot of notes, but when you see a repost of your gif get hundreds or even thousands of notes, it’s pretty discouraging.

So it’s only polite to leave credit or to refrain from posting something that isn’t yours :)

This is a PSA

Stop. Reposting. People’s. Art. ESPECIALLY if you don’t even have the decency to give them credit. This should be common sense by now but apparently it’s not. I’ll never understand how some people still think it’s okay to take other people’s hard work and post it on their blog without sourcing.

Just because it’s on the internet doesn’t mean it’s free game. It’s not yours to take. Have some f*cking respect for the artists who put their blood, sweat and tears into their craft and STOP STEALING THEIR SHIT.

Don’t encourage reposters

If you’re going to reblog a fanart/edit/graphic and are not familiar with the OP’s URL then please check the OP’s blog first.

I do this 99% of the time and most of the time this is how I find out who are the reposters.

Here’s how to spot a reposter

  • Read OP’s tags, most artists have their own art tag and sometimes they rant on the tags; if the tags are generic like “Tokyo Ghoul, Kaneki Ken, Amoneki” be cautious.
  • Look for artist’s signature and see if it matches with OP’s url, most of the time an artist will use his/her URL as his/her signature as his/her own brand name. This isn’t always the case tho.
  • Check the consistency of OP’s art style if it isn’t consistent then there’s a high possibility that it’s reposted.
  • Doubt OP’s credibility if it doesn’t have a caption; most of the time an artist will put a caption on his/her work.
  • If OP did include a link to the artist’s URL (most of the time it will redirect you to twitter, since reposters love stealing from Twitter artists) but did not have a “reposted with permission” attached to it then please do not reblog it.
  • DO NOT RELY ON THE NUMBER OF NOTES A POST HAS. A reposted fanart can have more than 100+ notes

Let’s be responsible. I’m tired of seeing people reblog reposted fanart.

Anonymous asked:

the inukag fanart you just reblogged is posted without credits :/ OP is not the artist !

I’m so sorry about that! I did a Google search for the original poster, but was unable to find it. If anyone can find the original artist of this artwork, please let me know so we can give credit to where credit is due.

We’ve got your back! Thanks, anon, for pointing this out!

What makes you an Art Thief

I’ve been talking to reposters for a while now, asking them to not repost art without permission and explaining why it’s a bad thing and one thing I noticed, it’s that most people are very shocked when people call them art thief.

So here I’m gonna show the 4 most common things I hear from people that post stuff without permission:

IF YOU REPOST ARTWORKS WITHOUT PERMISSION PLEASE READ THIS!

  1. I didn’t steal anything, I found that pic on We Heart It/ Pinterest/ Instagram/ Internet! That’s the first thing everyone says when accused of stealing artworks. Just because you didn’t say “this is mine” doesn’t mean you are not an art thief. If you copied an artwork and reposted without permission you are basically saying you can do whatever you want with that work because you found it somewhere. CONCLUSION: If you repost artwork without the creator’s permission you are considered an art thief, doesn’t matter where you got the picture from. —–
  2. “I didn’t know/ couldn’t find the original creator.” Excuses, excuses, excuses.
