We need to be going door to door telling men about bisexuality. We need to start standing outside grocery stores

Every time I’m close to telling Mike I’ll help him buy out his lease he does something that reminds me that I am not fiscally responsible for him until he commits

this misconception that pedophiles are all old men with no families or social life who do nothing but lurk in the bushes all day has got to stop. there are pedophiles in fandom spaces. there are pedophiles who are authors and readers and artists. there are pedophiles who aren't men, or middle aged. fandom in general tends to be so anti ~censorship~ that these people run rampant in fandom spaces and a lot of minors are hurt by it--I was, many people around my age that I know were. There are most definitely pedophiles writing and reading fanfic and making a community where absolutely nothing is censored or disallowed is only making a community that's more welcoming to them.

and if you read this post and you're about to post an angry rant in the replies about Censorship Bad and Don't Like Don't Read: take a moment to consider why the completely neutral, factual statement of "there are pedophiles in fandom spaces and those spaces should be made less welcoming to them" gets you so riled up

“Last week, Moss Point teacher Jovan Bradshaw posted a photo to Facebook that went viral. Now she’s using that momentum in hopes of raising money to teach her students more about Black History Month. …”

#BlackHistoryEveryMonth

“Dear students,” the door read. “They didn’t steal slaves. They stole scientists, doctors, architects, teachers, entrepreneurs, astronomers, fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, etc, and made them slaves. Sincerely, your ancestors.”

Uh oh

Watch the racists pretend like they can’t read all of a sudden

Couldn’t believe it so I found a source, it’s real

Man, I can’t imagine a black person getting away with this but it’s legal

Yup. So all those people that were like “just comply even if you did nothing wrong”, hell no! They shouldn’t be arresting you if you did nothing wrong. Especially how rough some of these cops are. More people knowing about this will cut down on these power hungry bad cops.

Reblogging again for quotes;

“Story affirmed the right of self-defense by persons held illegally. In his own writings, he had admitted that ‘a situation could arise in which the checks-and-balances principle ceased to work and the various branches of government concurred in a gross usurpation.’ There would be no usual remedy by changing the law or passing an amendment to the Constitution, should the oppressed party be a minority.

“Story concluded, ‘If there be any remedy at all … it is a remedy never provided for by human institutions.’ That was the ‘ultimate right of all human beings in extreme cases to resist oppression, and to apply force against ruinous injustice.’” (From Mutiny on the Amistad by Howard Jones, Oxford University Press, 1987, an account of the reading of the decision in the case by Justice Joseph Story of the Supreme Court.)

“An illegal arrest is an assault and battery. The person so attempted to be restrained of his liberty has the same right to use force in defending himself as he would in repelling any other assault and battery.” (State v. Robinson, 145 ME. 77, 72 ATL. 260).

“As a practical matter one should try to avoid relying on the above in an actual confrontation with law enforcement agents, who are likely not to know or care about any of it. Some recent courts have refused to follow these principles, and grand juries, controlled by prosecutors, have refused to indict officers who killed innocent people claiming the subject “resisted” or “looked like he might have a gun”. Once dedicated to “protect and serve”, far too many law enforcement officers have become brutal, lawless occupying military forces.“

HMMM

Bringing this back 👀 For no reason in particular.

I’mma just place this here

So I what are the racists saying now 🤔

there's two types of conspiracy theories in american culture:

  • blatant antisemitism
  • not actually a conspiracy theory the cia really admitted to doing this in declassified documents that are publicly available but the average american is so brainwashed by nationalist fervor that they refuse to believe it and call it a conspiracy even though, and i cannot stress this enough, the government literally admits to doing it

As a response to national riots over state-sponsored murder of black people, following their dead silence on Akim Aliu’s brave account of the racism he experienced in hockey, and after K’Andre Miller (their future teammate) was spammed with racial slurs on an nhl sponsored livestream, two white men are creating a podcast where they can be bigoted to their echo chamber of racists. They’re this upset that players sometimes experience minor backlash on social media for the first time in their lives when they say fucked up & discriminatory shit. Tony Deangelo and Brendan Lemieux genuinely believe hockey is “politically correct” and that players face real consequences for their actions. Really groundbreaking content from a man who used slurs against his own teammate!

If their white teammates and the league stay silent instead of condemming whatever bullshit they’re about to produce (as we all know they will), they are all complicit in accepting an unsafe environment for current and future players of color.

Important note that D’Andre John is a black hockey player who played for the Jamaican national team. [tweet]

Been calling this piece of shit Satan jr for a reason, the rotten apple doesn’t fall far from the rotten goddamn tree.

If you are someone who likes to watch a lot of cop shows, I want you to ask yourself a few questions.

Why do all TV cops, even the good ones, hate Internal Affairs? Isn’t the job of Internal Affairs to root out the “bad cops”? Isn’t their job to make sure police follow the rules? Why is that presented as inherently evil or antagonistic?

Why do all TV cops, even the good ones, hate defense attorneys? Isn’t the defense attorney’s job to protect the rights of all citizens? Isn’t it their job to make sure police follow the law? Isn’t it their job to make sure everyone is treated fairly under the system? Why is that presented as inherently evil or antagonistic?

Why do all TV cops, even the good ones, get upset when citizens invoke their constitutional rights? Don’t those rights exist to ensure all citizens are treated fairly? Don’t they exist to ensure innocent people are not wrongfully incriminated? Why are citizens who invoke their rights presented as dishonest, untrustworthy, or antagonistic?

To be clear, I’ve watched Brooklyn 99 and enjoyed it. I was watching Elementary the other day. But even when I watch shows I like, I make a mental note every time a cop lies, breaks the law, subverts someone’s basic rights, or just generally acts like an asshole to the people the are meant to serve and protect.

How often are they called out on their behavior? How often are they punished for it? How often is it reinforced as correct by the narrative?

When I tell people to be critical of the media they consume that is what I mean. Not simply calling it terrible and moving on, but actually engaging thoughtfully, asking questions, and forming conclusions about what that media is trying to say to you. Then decide whether you want to keep listening, or if it will be better for you in the long run to move on.

When I remember Harley Quinn was initially created cuz DC started getting backlash for making the Joker to queer coded(and too in love with Batman) not because making a villain gay is bad but because gay people are still harmful to kids even in an antagonising position :

When I remember how that backfired and now Harley is in queer love with Poison Ivy (and Joker is still gay for Batman) :
