Jimi Hendrix received an honorable discharge from the US Army. Over the next 3 years, he would play numerous gigs and studio sessions with such R&B stars as Little Richard, The Isley Brothers, Ike & Tina Turner and Sam Cooke. Prior to his discharge, Hendrix was written up for poor performance, with the following quote: “Pvt. Hendrix plays a musical instrument during his off duty hours, or so he says. This is one of his faults, because his mind apparently cannot function while performing duties and thinking about his guitar.”
