Tutorial: The Basics of CC Magic
I still get asks about CC Magic, how it works, if it breaks your game or PC, why is it useful? So CC Magic compresses, sorts, and backups your CC. It makes your game run faster. Why is it better than manual merging? Hmm, maybe cause it is less manual? ;) But seriously, the main point is you can easily UNMERGE and EDIT compressed CC with it. Plus it is optimized for Sims 3. And no, it will not break your game, it won’t break your PC, and it is not complicated or confusing.
THIS ALSO WORKS FOR 1.69!
So here is a suuuper basic video on CC Magic. Obviously the first step is to sort your CC and that part really is manual ;)
To Add New CC: you stick into “Downloads”, “Refresh” CC Magic and drag files from “Default” into whatever Set you want, then “Rebuild”. Save a copy of the new CC in a backup folder.
FOR THOSE USING A NON-ENGLISH VERSION OF SIMS:
It has come to my attention that if your “The Sims 3″ folder is not called this (maybe De Sims 3, or Le Sims 3) then CC magic may not actually put the CC into your game, but create a new folder called “The Sims 3″ under My Documents>Electronic Arts.
If this is the case for you, then there is an easy fix:
1. Create a folder called “Cache” under: My Documents>Electronic Arts>(your Sims 3 folder that has all your things in, not the one created by CC magic)>Mods
2. Go to the “The Sims 3″ folder created by CC magic, and navigate to mods. Go into the “Cache” folder there and copy the folder called “Config” into the “Cache” folder you created in your Sims 3 folder.
3. You will need to replace the “Config” folder each time you add a new set in CC magic (but NOT every time you rebuild). This folder contains a link that literally says “you will the the cc in the “The sims 3″ folder”. So it will direct your game to go look in the folder created by CC Magic for your CC :)
Tutorial has been updated for those with foreign The Sims 3 folders where CC magic is creating its own “The Sims 3″ folder and not putting the CC in your game ;)
