I think it’s so hard for geralt to admit that jaskier is his friend bc it’s hard for him to admit he likes anything, endstop. geralt has lived his whole life being told that witcher’s, himself included, do not have feelings. while geralt loves to say he isn’t what people think he is, that he’s different, he plays into their assumptions. he has never openly admitted to liking anything. he doesn’t have friends. he’s outlives everyone, so what’s the point? people will betray him, so what’s the point? people find him disgusting, and inhuman, and a monster like the ones he kills, so what’s the point? then along comes jaskier, who immediately likes him, who immediately talks to him without hesitation, who follows him on a dangerous mission and sings about him, inserting himself in geralt’s life. jaskier broke all the rules, and yet geralt is unable to bring himself to do the same
