Think of England

I'm 21 year old girl from Finland who is about to move to England to study psychology with neuroscience

I've been meaning to post something for so long, but I've been quite busy (I'm not sure why though, it's not like I'm working hard for uni or anything...). But yeah everything's ok. We've had a ridiculously warm autumn, which has unfortunately ended now. Second year of uni is actually feeling a lot easier than the first one (maybe I'm just delusional about how much work it actually requires?). A lot of revision from last year and overlap on neuroscience and psychology modules again, which is quite boring. I'm not sure what else I wanted to say, but I should be sleeping already.

Linda, I'm very sorry to tell you this, but I don't think there is any way I can make it to the premiere of the last Hobbit film with you. Apparently the Finnish release date is 10th December (12th in the UK, I am very resentful for that) and my term ends on 12th and it seems that this year all my lectures and practicals will be running until the last day of term. And I have a lab report due on 16th December. I was planning on coming home that day or before, with some free time scheduled before my departure, but I guess it's not happening.

Anyway I'm leaving tomorrow morning. Saara, I totally get the not wanting to leave – feeling now. I think I'll be pretty happy to be back in Brighton once I am there, but now I don't want to leave. I don't want to pack. If I could just skip to being all settled in my life there, I'd would be great. Because it's gonna be a while. I'm moving in on 27th, but I won't get my things back from storage until 29th. I'm staying at a hotel until Friday, but I have no idea where I'm gonna sleep the Friday/Saturday night, because I haven't asked any my friends yet if I can crash at their place. And I'm just getting super stressed as usually before leaving, instead of actually doing things.

I've been really busy with work, but I finally found out when uni starts so I'm leaving on 23rd September (I'll miss one lecture that morning, but it sounded very introductory and it should be recorded anyway). My uni's website was very unhelpful tho, it said "teaching induction (all attend)" for the 18th, but apparently that is only for people who have taken a brake from their studies. I have most Mondays and Wednesdays off and about 11 hours per week which sounds good.

I'm gonna indulge myself and stay at a hotel for three nights and then I'll have to sleep at a friends' place for only one night before I get to move in. My hotel was £120, which isn't that bad and I would've probably had to pay as much in rent if I had had to find a room for 1,5 weeks as I originally thought. Plus I got my flight from a sale and it was only 35€ (+ luggage 30€) and thanks to Norwegian's rewards system I only had to pay 60€ so I guess that compensates for the hotel too. I'm excited to be in central Brighton for a few days, I live a little further away so I don't go there that often. I'm kind of starting to miss Brighton already.

Dor-lómin was the southwestern part of Hithlum, bordered in the east by the Mountains of Mithrim, and in the north by the river which formed the Rainbow Cleft, also known as Annon-in-Gelydh. It was first colonised by the Noldor shortly after they arrived in Middle-earth, and for a long time was ruled by Fingon son of Fingolfin, before he took over as High King of the Noldor after his father was killed.

By this time the Edain known as the House of Marach had entered Beleriand, and Fingon granted them the land of Dor-lómin as a fief. After the Nirnaeth Arnoediad (“Battle of Unnumbered Tears”), the House of Hador was destroyed or scattered, and Easterlings dwelt in Dor-lómin.

Like the rest of Hithlum it was destroyed during the War of Wrath.
