This is incredibly heartbreaking to watch, but it’s imperative that we get this message out. Parrots are not pets! Please do not buy a parrot—ever, you never know what you’re supporting.

African Grey populations are decreasing rapidly, but they are not the only ones targeted. All parrot species are desired by poachers as they return a decent amount of money. Many times, they don’t just take the adults, they will cut down a whole tree in order to capture the babies, resulting in the removal of that nest site for future generations (in addition to other wildlife who cavity nest).

Please share! Lend your voice to the voiceless!

The silvery-cheeked hornbill (Bycanistes brevis) is a large species of hornbill which is found in Africa. Their diet consists of whole fruits, which is helping to spread seeds. They’re also known to eat berries, nuts, insects and in some cases even small reptiles or vertebrates.

They’re listed as a species of least concern on the IUCN list
