If you’re going to speak about Hope like you’re educated and well versed on the subject (of which you are neither) rather than ignorant then I suggest you take the time to actually research her past and the things she stands for. But since you clearly haven’t let me help you.

She hasn’t “committed” domestic abuse. You don’t know what she has done, or not done, or what was done to her, or not done to her. You’re not a part of the legal team that is involved in her case. Her case was dismissed and the charges dropped..the charges for which were 4th degree in the state of Washington meaning the least severe possible in this situation…a gross misdemeanor which could involve anything from a push to a scratch to a fight. You don’t actually know what happened and there is evidence to suggest Hope herself was a victim of abuse or assault that night and acted in self defense. She was never convicted, nor has she ever been found guilty. The judge dismissed the charges because her family changed their statements, refused to show up for court mandated questioning, and destroyed evidence. The case is currently ongoing, unresolved, with no verdict. Stop spreading false information. All you have to go on is a grossly misinformed public notion that she is guilty because you read some headlines.

Well this is a fuckin reach if I’ve ever seen one and I’ve seen some bizarre shit over the years here. Literally nothing ever in anything I’ve ever seen or heard or known about Hope indicates this. If you can provide sources to back this up feel free, otherwise again, stop spreading false information because that’s an extremely fucked up mischaracterization of someone you claim to hate, and therefore I’m guessing don’t know much about to begin with.

Finally, she did not “attack” alex morgan and the uswnt, nor did she shame anyone. I’m guessing you didn’t bother to listen to the whole interview, the parts immediately before or after the excerpt you all are running with, and you don’t seem to have a fundamental understanding of the points she was actually making in the interview. She was genuinely trying to make a point that female athletes, some of which she has known from the NT, and including herself, have had the pressure to do things like photoshoots in order to earn more money, get more attention, or become more well known. There’s nothing wrong with a personal decision of wearing makeup, false eyelashes, doing photoshoots, or getting a boob job, there’s just the fact that those things exist which (look at it how you want to) make some athletes more well known than others. Hope admits that she has done photoshoots and been a sex symbol herself…she’s not knocking it as a personal choice…she’s knocking the negative culture which surrounds it within the female sports world. She is very aware of the fact that she too falls into the category of being a female athlete who is also known for her appearance rather than just her playing ability. That was her whole point though, to discuss the role appearance and sex being a selling point is for female athletes and how it is still a major issue within the sports world. Keep in mind this is also not the first interview Hope has ever done discussing this very issue of the culture of how female athletes are portrayed. She discussed it on Nine for IX as well, many years ago, she’s discussed it as it relates to female players’ low income and having to substitute income doing off field things, she’s discussed it as it relates to selling points within big tournaments like the olympics. When she was talking about the makeup, eyelashes, photoshoots, boob job etc, she said “that’s what she (Carli) has to balance with competing for endorsements with her teammates”…and then she said “but we all do it.” It wasn’t an attack on personal choices to do these things, it was an example of how female athletes are surrounded by this misogynistic culture that does not value solely how a female athlete performs on field. Those aren’t Hope’s personal beliefs on this issue, those are the beliefs she has been exposed to and seen throughout her career as a professional athlete. The fact that she used Alex’s name as an example or comparison point is what is triggering y’all. Because Alex Morgan IS one of the most well known female athletes both on the wnt and in the world. She wasn’t shaming anyone, she was using it as an example of the behaviors that cultivate how female athletes are portrayed and/or how they often times must find other ways to substitute their income outside of playing contracts alone. Hope admits she has had to do these things in her career to, and also admits she is proud of her body and for doing her espn shoot, she isn’t shaming anyone’s choice to do so. Don’t go off a one minute excerpt from a much longer interview to try to prove a point you clearly missed.

Here are some things Hope DOES stand for and believe in, and has spent the majority of her time in the past year + especially post Rio: speaking out for women’s rights, equality, equal pay on the uswnt and around the world, creating more leadership positions for women within the ussf and other NT organizations around the world, backing other women’s unions and players who have stood up to their federations to demand renegotiated contracts, better treatment, and equal pay, spoken out against the wage disparity and poor working and training conditions in the nwsl, speaking out for low income and minority youth players especially within the ussf system, para olympians and players with disabilities, the deaf wnt, participated in one young world forums, raised tens of thousands of dollars doing personal tshirt campaigns for youth and girls soccer organizations around the world including street soccer usa, refugees, and soccer without borders. She’s also the most decorated athlete, male or female, to ever wear the US crest and spent her entire career fighting for better treatment and pay for her teammates. She still does to this day. If you’re going to speak about someone fucking educate yourself first.
