September 14, 1990:  Prince Harry who will be six toured The Battle Of Britain Exhibition with his friends from school and was soon on cloud nine. Diana, Princess of Wales  arranged the surprise visit as a treat for her son and his classmates. Shortly before mid-day, she arrived aboard a 21-seat coach to pick them up from Wetherby Pre-prep School. Then it was a short drive past Buckingham Palace to Horse Guards Parade. Within minutes Harry picked ip the drill. Diana who had brought her camera to capture the action looked on delighted as he studied a Spitfire and a Hurricane, peered down the sight of a Rapier Missile Launcher, sat in the cockpit of a Harrier - Jump-jet and - best of all - was shown how to operate a World War II Bofors Anti-aircraft Gun. Then he hopped into a Land Rover Transporter and as Diana peeped through the windscreen, he gleefully tooted the horn. As the party prepared to leave for tea at Kensington Palace, Harry proudly displayed a chestful of RAF Stickers including one which read future pilot. His grin said it all. This Birthday Treat had passed with flying colours.
