he banner for a discord channel I’m starting called PHUN or the Please Hire Us Network. It’s going to act as a way for clients and artists to meet, and will also give artists free ad space for their work, as well as areas for people to put in a commission they’re looking for.
There really aren’t any sites dedicated to helping artists get commission work, so I’m looking to make that happen.
This server will be 18+ only since minors cannot enter legally binding contracts (meaning should not own a paypal account, and I’m not gonna risk anything with that) and is lgbt friendly (considering i’m literally gay and trans)

part of me wishes tumblr would be able to track its ‘view count’ but i feel like if it did i would only get more depressed
because i rly do wonder how many people actually look at my content regularly, but if it’s anything like the ratios on ao3, it’s likely garbage
typically on ao3, I get about 1 comment per 500 hits. meaning that one in every 500 people that look at my fics say anything. my kudos is about 1 per 80 hits. If you imagine that as a real thing, that would be like putting up an art exhibit, 500 people pass by, and only one of them says something along the lines of ‘wow that was great rly love it!’ and the rest pass on silently.
fucking talk to content creators, tell them how much you love their work, tell them how it’s changed you, tell them every nice thought you’ve ever had. Because i promise you, that 2 minute detour of your day means hours worth of happiness and importance to them.

im not saying this is Your Fault Specifically, but i mean the problem lies in tumblr in that having 1900 silent followers who Do Like My Art but say nothing is woefully discouraging and incredibly depressing.
there are about 7 people that like and reblog every single thing that i post, and even then most of my NonFandom work only gets about 5-10 notes each.
people that do enjoy art but say nothing and do nothing are the problem. if you like my art, just click the little heart, just reblog it for your own followers to see. getting 5-10 notes (98% of which are likes) is incredibly discouraging. it means that I can pour my heart and soul into a characters design and not even a dozen fucking people will care.
I hate coming across as being ‘entilted’ or ‘whiny’ or whatever because i have so many followers and my fandom work often gets 100′s of notes, but what the fuck does it matter if the things i really do care about, my production art and my original characters and designs, are ignored over fandom work.
