Please help and answer me. I can't let go of someone whose done me so wrong whose cheated abused me and continues to do so. I am or am not a virgin now I wanted to wait till marriage but he went inside me more than once I keep promising to God it won't happen again but I still do it. I hate myself and I'm sure God hates me because I know God does nt want me to be with him. He still says I'm a Virgin because it didn't all go in but I think he's lying to me I'm confused how do I know if I virgin

First of all God doesn’t hate you. That is a lie from Satan, and I condemn it. God loves you, obedient or disobedient, virgin or not. Do you think so little of the Lord and His Mercy that you think He would condemn you so easily? He died for you. He died for you so you would understand that He is good and that nothing could or will separate you from His love. He died for you so He could show you how much He wants to spend this life and all of eternity with you. God doesn’t hate you because you are with this guy. God mourns for you because He has so many good things planned for his daughter.

Concerning virginity, my friend Jessie said that virginity isn’t something we lose all at once; it is something we shed over time. People have so many different definitions of virginity. For some it’s nothing more than kissing. For others it is everything except vaginal penetration. I don’t think the line really matters all that much. It’s about why you make the choice that you make that counts. In the Bible sex is a contract, it’s a covenant of commitment and intimacy. If you want that, start making choices that reflect that now. If sex means something else to you then figure out what that something is and how to have a healthy relationship to it. What sex should never be is an attempt to win someone else's love or affection. What virginity should never be is the ruler by which you measure God’s love. God doesn’t love you because you are a virgin. He loves you because you are his daughter. Be free from your sin and shame by knowing the truth about God and yourself. That He loves you and finds you worthy and beautiful as you are, even now. He always has and He always will.

How does one know they're in love? Can unconditional love exist? Is love the only truth? Btw you're a beautiful soul

God's love is the only truth. Everything else is reflection or distortion. Love does not exist without conditions. It exist under all conditions. Being in love is not the same as loving and loving is the greater act of the two.

I'm enrolled in a BA program in linguistics and I'm wondering if you can speak to your experiences as a Black woman in Yale's doctoral program. I don't know if my application would be competitive but I'd like to hear about how it is emotionally as well.

I was the only American person of color. And the only black girl and that was rough but the faculty have loved me and my work. It was mostly I didn't always see eye to eye with some of the male students but its grad school so I don't have to see them if I chose not to. All and all it was fine though Yale as an institution is very insular, very hegemonic, very into gentrification and little help or concern for the surrounding community. There is a Yale Black Graduate Network that provides a lot of black students with comfort. Me I just find my experience of Blackness outside of New Haven.

From White Guilt to White Grief

Any time we step outside of our reality and find that the world is not as we had thought, or as we expected, or as we had hoped, that experience is immediately disconcerting. We feel naked, exposed, vulnerable, naive, silly, complicit, uninformed and sometimes when we step back into our own perspective, we feel guilty.

I love all of my friends. I understand that sometimes when I talk about race it makes you feel guilty. You feel guilty not because you are white, but because you are safe. I ask that you would think of that uncomfortable semi-culpable feeling not as guilt but as grief. Grief that you did not know until now. Grief that you were not told until now. Grief that someone kept the truth from you until now. Grief that other people have been suffering under your nose all along. Grief that history was not equitable nor is society. Grief that America is not as it should or could be.

Mourn that grief. Sure it is uncomfortable but discomfort is what compels us to change. Then be comforted, and remember that you are in a great position to use your safety, your privilege and power to change your society. Don't let the discomfort of guilt keep you from empathy. Rather let your grief at injustice inspire you to listen, and learn, and challenge our current reality until it looks more and more like our ideals, until we all live in safety.

Please answer, i know its time.but i feel god is not for me why would he want me to experience this pain. i feel a man will never love me fully enough to not even think about cheating. i wasn't enough obviously and i found out a year into our relationship from screenshots.

Pain and joy are both promised us in this life. To accept one and refuse the other is simply not the option we are given and not would it build character. People hurt each other because we are broken. Maybe there are ways to fix what is broken but only God can redeem brokenness for his good purposes. I could not be where I am right now and know God as I know him now without experiencing both the sorrow and the ecstasy I've experienced. Read on Joy and Sorrow by Khalil Gibran. His words do work mine could never.

I truly do love you, Alysia. I could literally listen to you for hours. When you open your mouth, your words reach deeper than just my ears. You speak to me on such a level that I, myself don't even understand. I wish that I could know and be friends with you. I write sometimes and it is only my hope that one day I can be as eloquent, open, and truly beautiful as you are. My only question is what do you do when your muse is nowhere to be found but you want to write?

I read. Then I write.

Can you please tell me if there is a difference between African and African American? (I am black and I do see a difference but most of my friends don't)

Clearly there is a cultural and historical difference. It's like saying all Asian people are the same. To do that is to essentialize and gloss over histories in a way that we don't do with European countries. Nobody says a French person is German. Why should they make the argument that the Chinese are equivalent to the Japanese or that someone from Detroit is the same as someone from Dakar?

HANDS UP DON'T SPEND

In the wake of the Grand Jury's failure to indict Darren Wilson in the slaying of Michael Brown, we refuse to invest in a system that values our money but not our lives.  The black community has 1.1 trillion dollars in spending power, most of which does not go to our communities. Please join us in boycotting Black Friday from 11-27 to 12-01.

Some might be asking how boycotting can affect change? The owners of commercial companies are precisely the ones that fund campaigns, buy political officials, affect policy, and gentrify neighborhoods. These companies control property, they control advertising and they control jobs. Effect their profits and our demands will be heard.

You might be saying what about buying Christmas presents? To that we challenge you to be creative: make presents, cook a meal, volunteer to do a chore, go on a little outing. The cause is worth more than consumerism. Best Buy might got 50'' TV's for $200 but cops got that boys life for free. We can no longer make moral appeals to an immoral system. Instead we must target it where it hurts, its finances. Peaceful protests are ignored. Righteous rebellions are vilified. But the system cannot ignore nor afford a loss of revenue.

Does it work? Well, here are two examples of successful boycotts

Fruit of the Loom Boycott 2010- "The company crumbled in the face of pressure from the largest ever student boycott. In an incredible about-face the company re-opened a Honduran factory it had closed after workers had unionised. Furthermore, it also gave all 1,200 employees their jobs back, awarded them $2.5 million in compensation and restored all union rights. The campaign was estimated to have cost the company $50million."

Montgomery Bus Boycott 1955 -  This boycott beginning with Rosa Park's famous refusal to give up her seat on a bus, lasted over a year and lead to a supreme court ruling which desegregated Alabama buses. Black people walked to work for over a year, and effectively changed American legislation. For more information see the link http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Montgomery_Bus_Boycott

For a more comprehensive list see this website.

The history of boycotting is a long one, with many successes and failures. What makes a boycott successful is not simply attacking a company's bottom-line but attacking their reputation. The most important boycotts are ones with the most media attention. We levy the charge against these companies that they are directly involved in funding a racist system that devalues the lives of its black consumers. In addition to not buying, we ask you to publicly voice your frustrations at these cooperations. Post your indictments on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Four Square. Hashtag #boycottblackfriday #black4brown

Furthermore we are calling for a boycott of Walmart throughout the entire Christmas season due to the death of John Crawford a black customer who was shot by police in a Walmart in Ohio for playing with one of their toy guns. Again, the grand jury failed to indict. Walmart did not protect its black clients. As a result, we shall strip them of all their black patrons.

We are asking that you distribute the flyer attached in this email any and everywhere for an hour today (Wednesday). Go to stores, malls, put them on cars. Wherever you can think of. Get the word out so that we can stand strong and stand together.

" 'Riots' are what happens in mega stores during consumer holidays. What happened in LA, Chicago & Watts [and now Ferguson] were 'rebellions'." - Ferrari Sheppard. "Let's export this rebellion to each of our communities.

BOYCOTT BLACK FRIDAY.

Sincerely,

Alysia Harris + Jennah Bell
