Strob. Too emotionally invested in fictional characters. Forever striving to be a poetic and noble land-mermaid. (she/her)

Ideal ship dynamic is “person whose love language is acts of service” and “person who has never been cared for before”

I need more of 18-19 yo Zuko ditching his Fire Lord responsibilities from time to time to just hang out at his uncle's teashop🙌

i was gonna write it acutally but thought about writing the first sentence and the tiredlseepy got me so here's the concept

a conversation between cinderella and the prince after they're married. when she discovers he does not love her. he saw and recognised she needed rescuing, then played up the false 'love' angle to get the king to agree to it. cinderella does not love the prince either. but it would be an interesting convo. ending with them understanding one another rather more tyhan before. yearning for that which cannot be. &c. does anyone want to read it or

Okay okay so I'm not trying to hijack your post BUT--

Isn't that the truest expression of husbandly love?! The prince sees a girl who Needs Rescuing so he rescues her by sacrificing his own chance for a love/affection/attraction match! That is love!! That is noble sacrificial love!

Also marriage of convenience-to-lovers is like... the trope of all time, too. So. I'm totally rooting for them to fall in love or at least come to highly esteem one another nonetheless. XD

I LOVE this trope. I absolutely would read it, even if they didn’t fall in love. And if they did…🤩🤩🤩

I love this! I’ve never thought of Cinderella as being a story about the prince giving up his chance for a love match, but I love this! He sees this girl in a horrible situation, someone he has an affinity for, and does what is best for her—agrees to marry her as soon as he finds her.

The prince doesn’t love her—not yet—but he is a man who wants to do the best for his people, and she is one of those, and she needs saving. He can save her. He can marry her and remove her from her abusive home. Never mind the political match his father has always wanted to strengthen their kingdom. Never mind the dreams he’s always had of finding a girl to love and to love him. This is his duty. And perhaps—sometime—this can turn into love.

Ok but that’s beautiful?? It would be sad if they were without love forever, but the fact that the prince realized a love match was never going to happen (you can’t fall in love in the span of a ball), so when he saw a girl with dark circles under her eyes that her elaborate makeup couldn’t hide, who flinched at loud noises, and who moved with grace but without the settled, almost imperious confidence of a noble born, he put two and two together and decided that something good was going to come out of the arranged marriage he was being pushed into — because as hard as it was for him to give up on a free future, he was pretty sure this girl had it worse. So at least he could make SOMEONE happy. And then it would be worth it, right? And wasn’t that the duty of a king and a leader, really? To sacrifice his life for his subjects? Why not start now?

And that's actually what makes the Prince and Cinderella work so well together.

Cinderella is so selfless and kind despite her situation. That's part of the story, that she's kind and helpful even when others are abusive. And here comes this prince who's imperious and has all the power... And uses it to be selfless and kind. And she still defers to others by nature (by training, really), but now she's deferring to a person who is trying to do what's best for her. She wasn't expecting to fall in love, not when she left for the ball, she just wanted a night out, but she sees this prince who is unfailingly polite and tries to help when others are in need and is kind to the serving staff(!!!) and she... Well, she's not in love, but she certainly wants to be like him and will try to do everything she can to emulate him in her home life. And then he comes and saves her and she's fairly certain it's a fairytale come true because the man she decided to hero worship just came to save her, and she might be a tad distraught over the fact that he doesn't love her, but he is saving her and that's all she needs.

And the Prince dances around the ball and there's the girl who's clearly been abused that he can save, but she's also unfailingly kind to serving staff, and amazed by everything that he grew up with, and tries to help others when they're in need even though she's clearly snuck away and should be enjoying herself. And then he marries her, and he spends months just following her around, teaching her a princess's responsibilities (they don't muck out the stables or mop floors, but they do administer and manage the palace staff) and standing up for her when other mobility talks down to her, and he realizes that she's more than just kind and abused but she's a hard worker and she's supportive and she loves despite everything, and she's very much of the mind that if you won't be her friend then she will make you, and all her critics turn to fans and he... He realizes that she's what he wants to be, he wants to be as tireless and charming and open as she is and he thinks he might love her.

They never say it, never ask for it, but at some point, late at night after a day of hard work, when they're sitting together so closely that they can't breathe without the other feeling it, or maybe on an afternoon outing when they're laughing and smiling, or maybe in the morning when they're simply existing in the same space, they realize they're in love with each other.

They're too close to each other, both too selfless and kind, to be anything other than in love.

Oh it got better. 💜
