Why do we assume “beauty” is empowering and desired by all women? Is it possible for us to not consider ourselves “beautiful” without it automatically meaning we hate ourselves/devalue ourselves? I see men who consider themselves “funny looking” and not necessarily beautiful, and they love the shit out of themselves and no ones forces them to call themselves beautiful, and no one worries about their self esteem etc. It feels like we feel the need to reassure women that they are all beautiful because if they aren’t then they are worthless to us. Whereas men can be ugly as shit but we don’t worry about reassuring them of their value. Idk. I like the freedom to be ugly sometimes. Thinking out loud here. What do you guys think?
