demon: YOU HAVE SUMMONED ME, MORTAL. WHAT DEAL DO YOU WISH TO STRIKE WITH THE POWERS OF HELL?
roomba: [is a roomba]

demon: man c’mon you gotta work with me here a little bit
roomba: *slowly spells on floor* K N I F E
demon: ahhhhh I see. You have heard the legend of Stabby.
roomba: *vibrates excitedly*
demon: *lovingly tapes a knife onto the roomba* no charge

Cat sprawls across that part of the floor and spends an hour and a half trying to lift the tail from the letter Q.
Demon can’t get a word in, explodes from the unceasing influx of determined cat energy. The Roomba grieves, accidentally drives its knife into an open electrical socket and has a circuit meltdown.
The cat smiles, hears a can of catfood being popped open and scoots off, leaving deep scratches in the characters on the floor. A productive morning.
Gaze long enough into the abyss, eventually the abyss gazes back.
The abyss heard the can opener
I have my own guesses as to how PidginD0ll has become so coveted, but I'm curious what other people's thoughts are on what the artist is doing right. Also, bonus points if you have thoughts on what makes dolls seem "iconic," because I think that's what he's going for, and I'm curious what other brands people feel already have that status.

Remember that his primary involvement in the past was in the fashion industry. That’s his real base. Variety of sculpts is far less valued than the tweaks on a “model” with high-fashion outfits, hair and makeup. High-end Barbies are “iconic” as far as their fans are concerned, and in the fashion industry, models (sculpts) are just the “hangers” for the real stars, that are the fashions, the concepts, the accessorizing.
I was there too. Most of the “futuristic” stuff blends with other ‘50′s-60′s projections. I just remember that we got to buy real sugar cane pieces to chew and they were fabulous.
I never developed a sense of style growing up or paid attention to trends. As an adult I still struggle with this and I think it’s so awkwardly apparent in my dolls! I usually manage the basics and some clunky looking accessories, but nothing to add a realistic and fashionable layer to the aesthetic. I really envy doll artists and collectors that know how to achieve nicely curated looks for their dolls. It’s such a valuable talent in my opinion. I’m working on a better understanding of style for myself AND my dolls! They don’t deserve to look like primary school kids in their basics lol. Until then I’m going to continue being wowed by other doll collectors!

Style is what you like, unless you want to waste a lot of money trying to keep up with whatever is “trending”. If you don’t need special outfits for work, don’t worry about it. Appreciating “curated looks” and feeling self-conscious because that’s not you are two different things. I appreciate what it takes to create fabulous historical outfits, but I’m a jeans&tee person myself. And my dolls for the most part are that way too, and as long as someone out there continues to sew “the basics,” I’m not going to feel ashamed about it.
To all those people who bought really amazing doll fullsets over the years that just so happened to be made from pleather... my heart goes out to you all.

Even sadder than taking out a great outfit to find it shedding like an unhappy reptile (this includes boots!), is that the cloth underneath the pleather shed stays sticky, so you can’t even salvage the outfit as wearable for style’s sake!
I love this fur ball more and more every day
Awwwww!
The #GreenNewDeal is good, and responsible solution, for the entire planet, except for the fossil fuel industry who is killing us all.
Capitalism kills. Republicans want fewer rules and less regulations for the biggest polluters.
I want the tee shirt of this.
single people have wealth comparable to world superpowers less than 60 years ago. if that doesn't make you want to build a guillotine, I don't know what will.
