So I was talking to a friend about what happened at school yesterday (See my previous posts for context)

I just want to say, as a teacher, that it is wonderful what you're doing for your friend. So often, school staff make decisions based on fear of reprisal from parents. They are obsessively neutral. However, as we know from history, neutrality only serves the oppressors. Good luck tomorrow. Be brave. If you get into trouble, thank your teachers for their concern. Be mature and polite and calm. No one can take that away from you. No one can say you are "just making trouble" if you are dignified.

Thank you so much!

None of the people who dressed in shorts and tights got told to change. No one said a word to us. The principal, on the other hand, decided to try to brush it off as "his behind showing". I would like to point out that girls wear nothing over their leggings and have nothing said to them.

He actually went through with calling Fox 2 News, the closest station to us, and they said they'd be interested in possibly doing a story about this and other discriminatory acts at our district.

Again, thank you so much for your message and support!

This darling here is one of my closest friends. He’s a senior that goes to my school, and has never really been in trouble. This is the outfit he wore to school today.

As you can see, everything was appropriately covered and he was quite proud of this outfit. During first period he was called to the office and told to go home and change. Someone had reported him for dressing ‘obscenely’.

It was about his shorts and shoes. The shorts had a five-inch inseam and ended passed his finger tips when he stood with his arms at his side. His legging and fish-net combination covered everything the shorts didn’t. Apparently, one of his old friends from theater - whom had previously said she didn’t think our school needed a GSA - reported him to the office because she was ‘offended’. She dresses the exact same way, if not in a more revealing manner.

A large portion of his friends, myself included, are going to show our support by wearing outfits like this tomorrow. In addition, he is calling a local news station about this.

Please spread this; this was the worst possible move that could have been made right after the uproar we had over Leelah’s death.

I’d just like to add that I am a friend of OP and go to her school, and also today, one of my other close friends broke dress code because he decided to just show up in his PJ’s [Also against dress code (and they were the obvious PJ’s and not any of those clothes-passing kind)], but not once did anybody raise any objections at all.

And like, as OP mentioned, all the time we see girls passing through the hallways dressed like this and more revealing, but rarely do any of them get told to cover up.

I mean, if you’re going to object to one of the parts of dress code (though as OP said, he wasn’t exactly violating it), you should object to all of them, right?
