In college, one of my favorite classes other than type was figure drawing. It's where I learned how to observe light and recreate it using charcoal. You could say it's the exact opposite of drawing letterforms. Instead of defining hard lines and shapes, you're allowed to appreciate the gradients in-between. #adobesketch http://ift.tt/1W0KykC
"In your world I have another name. You must learn to know me by that name. This was the very reason why you were brought to Narnia, that knowing me here for a little, you may know me better there." (This project was created for a skillshare class taught by @martinaflor. Check out the class and see my full process: http://skl.sh/1TcaHYZ 👍)

I created this poster 3 years ago for a final project in my Communication Design class. Although my professor loved it, the chair department thought it was too offensive to be put in the gallery.

I had my first unofficial lettering workshop a few weeks ago at #summitca. It was mostly impromptu, but while teaching, I realized I really enjoy sharing my craft and interacting face to face with others. With that said, I’m excited for @typelettering Ken Barber’s workshop next week. I made sure to grab an all-day ticket before they are all gone! pc: Elizabeth Ewald
"Si quelqu'un est en Christ, il est une nouvelle créature. Les choses anciennes sont passées; voici, toutes choses sont devenues nouvelles." 2 Cor 5:17 I started learning French again, and as I refresh my memory, I thought it would be fun to memorize scripture in this beautiful language. http://ift.tt/1ADq8pW
“Typography is the craft of endowing human language with a durable visual form, and thus with an independent existence. Its heartwood is calligraphy - the dance, on a tiny stage, of the living, speaking hand - and its roots reach into living soil, though its branches may be hung each year with new machines. So long as the root lives, typography remains a source of true delight, true knowledge, true surprise.” –Robert Bringhurst http://ift.tt/1JtNXm0
Hearts of Men This is how Christian’s should be telling stories through films, in a beautiful and real way.

Art Center 1939 — It’s amazing how some things never change.
An overlooked step to any creative’s process: The music you listen to when creating artwork.
Inspiration from the classic Universal Penman by George Bickham. Each page was reproduced by plates engraved back in the 18th-century. It's one of the best resources on the English roundhand, and truly a work of art. http://ift.tt/1D1go7Y
One of my favorite things when designing an identity for a brand, is creating different style guides for direction. Each one has a unique visual language and story based on different brand attributes. I enjoy designing them like poster/moodboard/editorials. http://ift.tt/19LyOgZ
Drawing letterforms is similar to practicing yoga. You have to be aware of every muscle in your body and every breath you take. Any tenstion will be reflected in each stroke. So in order to draw curves, be conscious of your posture, keep a steady hand, and slow it down. 👍 http://ift.tt/1LvWh7q
Although this concept didn't end up as the final brandmark, I enjoyed the process of designing it. http://ift.tt/1GQILbn
