RE: THAT Crimes of Grindelwald cameo
***MOVIE SPOILERS AHEAD, PLEASE SKIP THIS POST IF YOU’VE NOT YET SEEN THE FILM***
During a Leta-centric flashback, a young Professor McGonagall is shown scolding Leta-who attended Hogwarts from around 1908 to 1915-for hexing a pair of students. Fans quickly realized the gaping continuity hole (McGonagall states in Order of the Phoenix, which takes place from 1995-1996, that she’d been teaching at the school for almost 39 years, which means she would have started in 1956) and have been very outspoken on social media about their disappointment. They feel the easter egg was placed in the film merely to dredge up nostalgia and it cheapens Fantastic Beasts, overall.
My question is: where do you, dear reader, stand? Do you think the cameo was a damper due to the timeline inconsistencies or just an enjoyable, if confusing, bit for fans of the Harry Potter series?
