i personally think we analyze songs too much and just need to recognize when a bop is a bop

what gets me about the people saying jack and taylor need to stop collaborating is that male artists are just not expected to completely change their sound, look, and image every single "era" — they're not even expected to have what would be considered "eras" at all. an overwhelming amount of female artists are expected to completely overhaul their entire sound every year or two even when they've found what works for them or what appeals to their fans. i'm sure there's creative freedom in deciding how an album is going to sound, feel, and look each time around, but it's exhausting how we keep demanding artists to reinvent themselves every album cycle instead of just letting them do what they love.
