Headcanon: Caroline’s safety was always on Stefan’s mind in the finale, so he forced Damon to take the cure because he will no longer be around to protect her if/when Damon acts up again. Stefan made sure Damon could never hurt Caroline ever again.

Considering Stefan didn’t know when Elena would wake up, he didn’t do it for you know…this…

Ok so I’ve seen a lot of people doing this and since the year is ending in just a couple of hours I decided to do it too. I love and appreciate all the mutuals and followers I have.
