I think this is mostly scientifically accurate but truth be told, there seems to be relatively little research on succession in regards to lawns specifically (as opposed to like, pastures). I am not exaggerating how bad they are for biodiversity though—recent research has referred to them as "ecological deserts."

i’m sorry but i didnt sign up for social isolation when i transitioned, i signed up for gender euphoria and comfort in myself and my life. and i had hoped that the ppl in my life would be able to see how much joy that brings me and continue to love me.
This day's art was very different from what I was expecting! At first I was gonna do a finished and colored piece more typical of this challenge, so I opened my sketchbook to try thumbnailing, but then I got into trying to work out my personal iterator designs again (something I've been trying to do as of recently) and eventually Day 13's art became a (rather messy) collection of studies instead! It still counts though, right?
Honestly though I've been wanting to share my current ideas for iterator design for a bit now, especially since it seems like practically a rite of passage in this fandom to do one's own visual interpretations of the slugcats and iterator puppets. I'm trying to first work out the basic iterator puppet features so I can then modify things like shape language and proportions individually from more of a character design perspective for each of the main six iterators. In that aspect I want a cross between semi-futuristic robot and cute living ball-jointed doll, and I've been struggling a little with how to merge those ideas in a way that is appealing, yet also makes sense for how I imagine the puppets themselves function. It's mostly in regards to the knee joints, the size of the face plates and what parts of the head they cover, the location and connecting structure of the head wires — which I want to be reminiscent of the Na'vi queue for both looks and that similar concept of an external neural connection structure — and conveying an overall segmented/plated look yet still allowing for more organic-looking squishiness in certain parts.
I've taken a lot of inspiration from other iterator designs as well as real dolls, and now I think I'm getting to a design I enjoy! Hopefully I can then start working more on each individual iterator's appearance soon. Until then I hope these look nice!
as a teacher, reading about nex makes me fucking furious because I've seen that hate in the students I've taught. people who say young people aren't bigoted and once the old fucks die off the world will be perfect have no idea how cruel children can be when influenced by society's bigotry. while working with 8th grade, i had multiple situations of children harassing lgbt students, screaming slurs at black students, and mocking disabled, especially autistic, students. i was misgendered and degendered by these kids daily without them even knowing i was trans or gay, just that i was a feminine man. i had to dress hyper-masculine to have a smidgen of respect, and god forbid i let my disability show.
but what sticks with me the most when thinking about nex is when i had to intervene when a child proudly announced that she would murder her baby if they were trans (specifically nonbinary) because nb people were freaks, fully aware the person sitting next to her was trans. when i tried to intervene, i was disciplined because i was 'teaching my personal politics'.
this is what our schools look like. when people say they cant believe these girls could do this, i shake my head because, to me, it's no wonder nex is no longer with us. nex was a child with intersecting minority identities. our society is cruel and bigoted, and it is influencing our children. we HAVE to fix society because until we do, kids will stay cruel and kids will keep dying

in both cases: always start on the lowest setting and wrapped in something soft!! if it hurts, stop!!
But, re: sinuses: look up a diagram of where they are, and when a spot feels particularly good or is particularly congested, hold it there longer. Definitely keep tissues handy for when it drains. Also it can help if your sinuses hurt like fuck but aren't actually congested (which happened when I had covid), but the effect doesn't last long.
Re: TMJ disorder: You can just push it against the joint, obviously; if your vibe has a small contact point you can REALLY dig in there (but again: stop if it hurts). But don't forget the whole area around the joint, around your ears, and up your scalp. There's a lot of muscles that tighten when your jaw is tight/stiff/in pain. Be especially careful when on a spot that's just skin over a bone without a lot of padding.
vibrators can also help if you have restless legs syndrome! Especially ones with fancy pulse patterns. When my RLS is severe I tuck them behind my knees or wherever & can finally lie still & sleep. You might need to wrap them in fabric to avoid skin irritation ymmv. There was even a paper published somewhere called "counter stimulatory devices for RLS" that was hilariously vague about saying the word "vibrator"
Once again adding also useful if you have dystonia or any kind of muscle spasticity. I have cervical dystonia (neck spasms) and dystonia in my left leg that's essentially like persistent Charley horse cramps from my neuromuscular issues and bought a Hitachi expressly for this purpose lol

I learned about the sinus thing and immediately bought a vibrator for that purpose. And yes, it DOES help with sinus headaches.
