Stop putting DNI on your tags and stop bringing shipping discourse into AO3

AO3 hid the story and asked OP to remove the tag (the fanfic is not even removed) due to the inflammatory tag. That's deserved. AO3 is not a social media for people to fight over ship and chronically online discourse. It's a library. If people keep bringing DNI and discourse into AO3 it'll make the place toxic for writers and reader.

What are you trying to accomplish with putting DNI? Do you think people actually care about DNI? No, it's just making you looking like an asshole doing this

Also AO3 was founded by a Wincest and Thorki shipper. Astolat made AO3 because FF net and other sites keep purging nsfw fanfic. AO3 is literally made for problematique shipper that op don't like.

Then OP doing this? For what? People want to enjoy reading their fanfic not seeing DNI and online discourse on AO3. I hate using the word virtue signaling as it's often used to demean progress but this is what a real virtue signaling looks like πŸ€¦πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

(I bet op wrote more inflammatory tags on their fic other than 'proshitter DNI get a life' because it take a lot to get your story hidden or removed)

I love the posts that are like "Well this is very clearly the canon but y'all are So Desperate to ignore canon and warp it to whatever fantasy you have for these characters." Like yeah. That's what fandom is. That's what most fan-fiction is built around. The DC fandom specifically is basically built on picking and choosing which comics you personally feel in your heart are canon. That's the fun of it. "Y'all love to ignore some things just to make your character dynamics work." Yes. Yeah that's the point. Correct.

I looooove the SOC fandom. BUT. Something that annoys me just a tiny little bit is how lots of people have dead-set opinions, especially on Kanej, and take them for the absolute truth, and everyone who doesn't agree is wrong and "can't read".

There's especially lots of debates around the "No armor thing". How often do I come across posts that say "PSA, Inej didn't mean _______ when she said that, she meant _________". Then the notes are like "Honestly, anyone who doesn't see that this is how she meant it lacks literacy skills".

First of alll...quit insulting real people to defend your opinion over book characters. It's not that serious tbh. Being in a fandom should be fun, don't create drama, it's not worth it.

Secondly, didn't we learn in English class that all interpretations are correct as long as you can prove it? Maybe, just maybe, you aren't actually right. You can debate over it, just...don't act like you're the one who gets it and everyone else is "stupid".

Third, you know what, some people DO lack literacy skills. Some people DO read the books as shallow entertainment. Some people DON'T analyze the characters and draw all the correct conclusions. AND THAT'S OKAY.

I also saw one post where people literally took a screenshot of a young woman's TikTok where she called Kaz an evil Sherlock Holmes and all the comments were making fun of her. Guys...not cool.

At the end of the day, no matter how much the book means to me, it's just that: a book. The characters aren't real. You can have your opinions, it's okay. You can dislike a certain character, you can think they acted wrong in certain situations even if everyone else thinks they were right, you can think Kaz is an evil Sherlock Holmes if that's your interpretation. Everyone is allowed to enjoy the book in their own personal way.

Either be respectful when you see a take you don't agree with- debates with different view points, opinions and interpretations can be wonderful and enriching-, or move on, but quit insulting and even bullying people, please.

plotting out the timeline of some of the horrible things that happen to Tim and my god the 2000's fucking had it out for him

  • Batman #618, Oct '03 - Jason comes back and slits Tim's throat
  • Robin #129, Oct '04 - Tim's friend Darla gets shot in front of him
  • Identity Crisis #6, Jan '05 - His dad dies
  • Batman #634, Jan '05 - Bruce tells him Stephanie's died
  • Teen Titans #29, Dec '05 - Jason beats him up again in Titans Tower
  • Infinite Crisis #6/7, May/June '06 - Conner dies
  • Batman #657, Nov '06 - Damian shows up and tries to kill him
  • Flash The Fastest Man Alive #13, Aug '07 - Bart dies
  • Final Crisis #6, Jan '09 - Batman dies
  • Red Robin #1, Aug '09 - Dick makes Damian Robin

Over the course of 6 years irl, and almost certainly way less time within the comics, Tim just absolutely gets his shit rocked and I'm positive theres stuff that I've left out or forgotten
