Here's part one of my RTX 2018 posts. Overall, the convention was an ABSOLUTE BLAST! We got to meet SO MANY awesome content creators, voice actors, artists and more! Some highlights here include streamer/former Achievement Hunter Ray Narvaez Jr., cosplay and design team Impact Props, voice actress Jen Brown, voice actor/actor Shannon McCormick, Jeff Williams (composer for RWBY), and animators Kyle Taylor and Josh Ornelas. My two friends and I had fun cosplaying as the staple villains from Far Cry 3 (me as Vaas Montenegro), Far Cry 4 (Brandon as Pagan Min), and Far Cry 5 (our friend Chris as The Father, Joseph Seed). Lots of people got a kick outta them, especially Ray lol. Let me tell y'all about the All-Star Comic Con. It was an absolute PARTY. The organizers were wonderful, I got to see so many great friends of mine, made great new ones, but mostly overall strengthen the bonds with the local DC area cosplay community. I met some really cool vendors, got my Wonder Woman statue signed by one of the biggest voice talents of my childhood (the lovely Susan Eisenberg), and of course got to see so many AMAZING cosplays while wearing my Batman Beyond and Yondu ones. Speaking of, I had the honor of making it into the TOP 10 of the cosplay contest! This was a highlight for sure, and completely unexpected! I gotta give a HUGE CONGRATS to the winner (The Black Manta, 2nd from the right, 3rd pic - @pbenson1167), and everyone else who made it to the top!  TRIPLE WHAMMY POST! Edited pics, Infinity War, and The All-Star Comic Con! Finally got some edited fun pics together of my Yondu cosplay! Had a so much fun with these! I cannot get over how AMAZING Awesomecon was! FIRST YEAR! The first day I cosplayed as Varrick from The Legend of Korra, which was exciting because I met and got a picture with Janet Varney who voices the titular character. She was an ABSOLUTE JOY and complimented my cosplay! (made by Brandon - thanks again!) I also had the pleasure of meeting two lovely ladies from one of my favorite games, Overwatch: Lucie Pohl (Mercy), and Charlet Chung (D.Va - my main and best character)! They both signed my Overwatch heroes poster, and Charlet signed my D.Va Funko Pop! This next part was HUGE for me! I met and got signed prints from ALL 4 MAIN GIRLS FROM RWBY - Lindsay Jones, Kara Eberle, Arryn Zech, and Barbara Dunkleman! They were so nice and friendly, and I had a blast talking to them! I've loved the show since it came out, and I couldn't help but jump at the chance to meet them! The second day was absolutely INCREDIBLE! My friends Robert, Brandon, and I got a pic with Michael Rooker (YONDU!), Dave Bautista (Drax), and Sean Gunn (Kraglin) from Guardians of the Galaxy! I also got my Yondu Funko POP signed by Rooker, and he gave me huge props on my Yondu cosplay! He's such a nice, fun, personable guy and it was WONDERFUL meeting him. I loved seeing all the amazing cosplay! I had so much fun meeting people and seeing their work! Additionally, it's incredibly rewarding and exciting when others enjoy my cosplay, and I'm humbled by any praise I get. I especially love it when children and families ask for pictures. It's one of the most heartwarming experiences! We were even featured in a video made by famous cosplayer and YouTube celebrity, D.Piddy! "If you struggle, you'll only bleed." Well here it is, my Black Manta cosplay is fully complete. I had fun doing it, and it was for sure one of my most intricate cosplays to date. He's one of the most interesting and well designed villains DC has, as well as a staple villain being Aquaman's arch nemesis. I decided to take my own spin on the character, borrowing elements from several character depictions. I just always thought he was a cool looking character and I HAD to cosplay him! It involves several armor pieces made from EVA foam, and vinyl straps holding it all together. I'm mostly satisfied with how it turned out (I'll have to readjust some things for better fitting however). I'm very proud of the illuminated helmet; I was surprised it worked as well as it did lol. The paint was part spray paint, part hand paint. Additionally, I decided to have fun with the pictures I had taken, and I threw a few into Photoshop and played around. The last few pics are unedited (and one of me just goofing around with the morph suit and helmet lol). I think they look pretty cool and might do more with future cosplays. I'll try to find time to do a pro shoot in the future, possibly on a beach. HUGE thanks to my friend Brandon for being patient and bearing with me as we took this picture, as well as guiding me around the con (vision was very limited lol), and helping with malfunctions here and there. HUGE thanks as well to his folks for letting us work on our cosplay in their house. Also HUGE THANKS TO EVERYONE who complimented me and took pictures! I was frankly nervous and uneasy at first about the cosplay, but all the praise made me happy and proud of my creation. I'll keep on doing bigger and better things in the future! Justice League. Justice. League. This movie met all expectations and surpassed a few. The casting choices were all fantastic, the story was focused, it expanded on the DCEU in a way without bringing in too much into it, and it solidified the foundation for the rest of the DCEU so it can grow and prosper. More than anything, the movie gave me a sense of nostalgia, as it reminded me of watching the old Justice League and Justice League Unlimited cartoons as a kid. It was overall a well done solid superhero movie. Additionally, I met and joined a group called Coslove that does charity events and visits to spread joy and happiness with their cosplay. I celebrated my 21st birthday at a Macklemore concert. VIP, on stage, the works. Best. Birthday. Celebration. Ever. I got to meet my favorite rapper and huge inspiration Macklemore in person before attending his concert with my close friends. Not only that, he put me on his Instagram story!!! When be saw me his first words were "Damn. This is big. Look at you." We got my picture, then he got one with his phone and put it on his InstaStory. And as I walked off, he wished me a "Happy Birthday" I'll never forget as long as I live. But wait, it gets better. I GOT TO GO ON STAGE!!! He selected me from the front where I was with my friends for a dance battle. I felt like I was on top of the world! However I had to hand it to the kid, around 9, who won. He earned it. He was breakdancing like an animal. I ain't ashamed because I was ON STAGE WITH MACKLEMORE. I'VE NEVER FELT SO ALIVE AND EXCITED. He's the coolest most genuine guy in all honesty. The music was fantastic, people were giving me birthday wishes left and right, people were cheering me on onstage, a few people bought me shots ;), I got a picture with some of the featured artists at the end, and more than anything I met the COOLEST people there that are now homies for life. I'll never forget tonight. With all the hype for the new biopic #BohemianRhapsody coming out starting #RamiMalek in 2018, I figured I'd share my Freddie Mercury cosplay I wore to this past summer's The NOVA CON. I had a huge blast with this outfit. I also have to give a shout out to my friend for doing the stripes along the pant legs, that really helped tie it together. People loved it, but didn't get to exercise my pipes this time around. Maybe the opportunity will arise in the future ;). I absolutely love Queen and hope to see them someday with their current frontman, Adam Lambert. I heard he pairs absolutely amazingly with them! Much love! Rest in peace, Freddie!
