Here's another one of my best selling @etsy prints. I titled it Zap Rat Jamboree, it was for a #Pokemon themed art show at @theinsomniagallery a couple of years ago. I had the idea in my head for years before I ever had a reason to put paint to canvas. I actually still have the original, it was listed for sale for a long time, but I took it down, along with a few other originals when I found out I was pregnant (since a lot of my art is kid friendly, I figured mine should have first dibs on originals 😋). I've been doing quite a bit of introspection (as I've had very little time to create new art). This #MermaidLagoon print is a fan favorite in my @etsy shop, and it is one of my paintings that I'm most proud of. I had to be patient and build up layers and then add in teeny tiny details. The color palette is bright and dreamy. Plus #mermaids, self-explanatory. The original only measured 8"x16", which is a fun panoramic canvas, however an awkward size to print (the prints are 6"x11"). It was for a Disney tribute art show at @theinsomniagallery, and it did not sell at the show, but my other exhibit pieces did, it was a really fun show to participate in. I ended up selling the original at @houstoncomicpalooza, the couple who bought it LOVED it and it was one of my first big sales. What a week, it was my first week back to work, and my head is spinning. So, way back when, I thought I would ease back into society after my maternity leave with my first week back including a week long digital marketing certificate course at @uhbauercollege. Well the universe decided the world would look a little different come Q2 2020, and I've been taking the classes via #zoom. What a week. Happy #MothersDay to all the mamas out there. This job is so much harder than it looks. First it's trial by fire just to get the title, then just as you emerge broken and battered from the gauntlet that is pregnancy, it's a whole other kind of self inflicted delirium from sleep deprivation and the weight of knowing you are bringing next generation into society and the literal future depends on how good of a job you'll do explaining the world and teaching our ways to these new tiny humans. Oh you silly, cute and torturous tiny humans. I have discovered that there is a brief time where we can fart and vomit at the same time and it be considered both an achievement and cute. Never again will it be either after infancy. Call your mom, thank her for your life. The girls are officially two months old, they have nearly doubled in size. They definitely feel less fragile (super strong neck muscles) and their hair is getting so long! It looks like they both are going to have blue eyes and they're starting to sleep longer at night. I got puked on three times today, one of which got in my hair. But my babies are adorable, and I can't wait to teach them things. All of these plant paintings were done in January, and I've been itching to do some new ones, but I don't think I've even picked up a pencil since the girls were born.
