Whoever wrote that Article for Time magazine featuring BTS & Kpop as a whole in the article, I got news for you.

Calling Rain, SNSD & BIGBANG failures because they apparently ‘failed’ in the U.S markets. Rain was the first soloist Korean artist to have a tour in the U.S. he was on the TIME100 2 times. He sold out his tour. As for SNSD & BIGBANG, neither tried to get into the U.S markets. Their platform is KOREA. They never needed to nor wanted to. It’s Korean Pop not Western pop. What business would either have to do in the western..? Unless they wanted too. BIGNANG is indeed popular enough in the U.S to also get a CNN interview because of their major success. But I don’t understand why they need to be in the western market to be qualified for success.

Psy was huge here with Gangnam style, then after 2013 everyone just dropped him because the trend of having him one every show was done & over. BTS are popular trend here in the U.S. BIGBANG had sold out tours before BTS even debuted. They even have solo tours which They even sell out here. GDragon has the biggest and most attended world tour of 2017. SNSD and BB are the Nations groups . They really need to get people who know the korean industry to write these kind of articles. Disrespecting the roads they’ve paved and archived in their own platform let alone fame outside of Korea to internationally is really nasty. BIGBANG has nothing when they debuted, they barley had money or food to survive while working their asses off to become the legendary group they are still to this day. As the same for SNSD being the most powerful Korean Girl Group of this generation.

BTS look up to BIGBANG and are huge fans. So disrespecting BIGBANG, you’re disrespecting their faves as one and most of them wanted to become artists and singers because of the ones they look up to. So I don’t understand why the fandom also drags BIGbANG. You’re dragging your favorites role models. BTS is the largest fandom of American fans. But they have a whole new level to compete in Asia. I am proud of how they rose up from also coming from a smaller entertainment and achieving their dreams. But please do not put down the older gens or forget what they’ve done to spread popularity over seas. I personally am happy and content with BIGBANG taking over Korea, Asia and internationally. I don’t really have a reason for wanting them over here when they’re already a super top tier popular Korean Pop group. I’m not saying I wouldn’t mind watching them on Ellen or anything, Becaise they’re all so hilarious and wonderful. But you don’t have to be popular in America to be valid as a successful group.

So next time I hope they hire someone who actually knows how the Korean industry works or at least has the correct information on Korean pop culture as a whole.

And ARMYs are eating that shit up. When BIG BANG’s last tour made over what $35,$50 Million maybe even more. Selling out EVERY LAST ONE OF THEIR SHOWS. ARENAS AND STADIUMS. BIG BANG sold out more tours that Madonna and MAROON 5 COMBINED. But they flopped? RAIN was only here in America to promote NINJA ASSASSIN. But when before then he sold out Madison Square Garden, the first Asian artist to do so. SM never pushed SNSD to break into the western market,y'all didn’t notice that? Most of these Korean companies only care about Korea and Asia. So fuck the reporter who wrote that article and not taking the time to actually look up the facts before they wrote that shit. If it wasn’t for BIG BANG,hip hop idols wouldn’t even exist. BIG BANG was the FIRST hip hop idol group in Korea. Not really Seo Taiji and boys because hip hop wasn’t really popular nor a thing in Korea til TIGER JK debuted. But I digress. Also thank SUPER JUNIOR for even exposing kpop outside Korea. Super Junior started the hallyu wave,as in theu were the first kpop group EVER to have their music played outside Korea. So before y'all start calling BIG BANG,SNSD,SUPER JUNIOR,and RAIN flops, thank them for paving the way for your oppas to even go on American the and performing on American stages, tho being popular in America don’t mean shit. Now we’re not dismissing WONDER GIRLS,DBSK,or BoA,but we’re just talking about the people who were mentioned in the article. As I said it before and I’ll say it again, and I’ll repeat myself,ARMYs will be the reason for BTSs down fall. Period.

I don’t appreciate SNSD & BIGBANG being called failures because they need to be in the Western American market to be validated as ‘successful’. It’s Korean pop. Korea is the platform. You don’t have to put down the ones who paved the most just to make the newer ones validated. The first post and this has nothing to do with BTS as a group, I’m irritate with the lack of knowledge these reporters know and write, I’m irritated with fans who do not know how the industry works. That is the issue.

The equivalence of this is basically wanting One Direction to be popular in Korea because (this is an example) say they’re gaining a better fan base there. Which isn’t the issue. But their platform wouldn’t be Korea. It would be the West. So their Korean popularity wouldn’t add up to what they need to do and achieve in the West. I think a lot of newer fans don’t understand why older fandoms get uneasy or don’t understand how the Korean market works and Platforms. That is the issue. No one said you can’t enjoy it, you can enjoy it and be proud! Just it’s tiring watching these people put down the ones who’ve paved ways and popularity into the west to have a big fan base for Korean pop.

You’re basically discrediting and ignoring the steps and achievements to these 1st-2nd Gen groups: BIGBANG, SNSD, SHINee, Super Junior, SechSkies, Seo Taiji & Boys, KARA, Wonder girls, Baby V.O.X, SES, 2NE1, TVXQ, G.O.D, Turbo, 4Minute, B2ST/Highlight, Jinusean, H.O.T, 2PM, 2AM, SHINHWA, SS501, Fin.Kl, BEG, Chakra, MBLAQ, UKISS,Click-B, Jewlery, Davichi, FT. island, CNBlue, After School, Rainbow and many more is a huge slap in the face and middle fingers up
