jerry was in my elder scrolls online guild, and he's one of the sweetest guys I've ever known. i feel sick every time i come across his image online because it's almost always the exact same baseless derision and shitty implications about him because he's fat and wearing a fedora for a photoshoot. the photoshoot this image is from was leaked from his private facebook. the harassment that he's faced from his memeification is worse than anyone knows.

Bisan's back is injured. As someone who's had multiple lower back injuries and uses a cane now because of those injuries I know exactly how excruciating it is. It's a level of constant pain that most people can't even imagine. It wears away at you making it hard to think or even breathe sometimes. I cannot imagine enduring that level of pain while also being bombed and displaced.

Bisan has been sleeping on the ground for months now, running from attacks and still trying to report on what's happening in Gaza. There is no way for her to rest and recover from a back injury let alone get medical care.

*lebanese journalist | could not find date of martyrdom

spent the whole day confirming all of these names and looking through multiple resources. the ones with dates are journalists who’s date of martyrdom and/or exact cause of death is stated by sources besides the government media office official list.

When Palestinian’s say “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free,” they are not calling for the ethnic cleansing of Israeli Jews/all Jewish people entirely. They are just asking for decolonisation.

Between the river (the Jordan River) and the sea (the Mediterranean Sea) lies Palestine, which has been occupied by Israel for the past 75 years. When they say Palestine will be free, they mean exactly that- for decolonisation; to end the illegal occupation of land that was theirs first.

I don’t know where the idea that this motto means genocide or is a “rallying cry for terrorists” came from, but all sources I have seen that spread this message are all pro-Israel and have unreliable propaganda filled articles. There is one article specifically that says that the Palestine flag emoji is used as shorthand for this phrase, and using it is antisemitic.

I hope people keep using this motto, keep chanting it at protests, and know that it does not making them antisemitic, pro-genocide, or an ignorant person. For it to not be obvious at this point that no Palestinian wants an ethnic cleansing of any kind, is shocking.

decolonizepalestine has an amazing article with more details about the history of the phrase and the myths surrounding it.

2023 Nativity Scene at the Evangelical Lutheran Christmas Church, Bethlehem, Palestine

"In Gaza today, God is under the rubble. He is in the operating room. If Christ were to be born today, he would be born under the rubble. We see his image in every child killed and pulled from under the rubble. In every child in incubators," writes Rev. Munther Isaac of the church.

Lit Hub has posted an article with the names, photos and biographies of the Palestinian poets and writers killed by the IOF since the beginning of October. May we remember them, their names & their poems 🍉🕊🍓🪁

"Since October 7, Israel has killed at least thirteen Palestinian poets and writers in Gaza.

If we think of ourselves as a global literary community, then these people were our fellow travelers, our peers.

They—just like the more than 66 Palestinian journalists killed in Gaza in the line of duty; just like every one of the more than 21,000 innocent people massacred in Gaza, the West Bank, and Israel over the past 75 days—deserve to be remembered."

Yesterday I finished moving to Firefox so here's some extensions. First, the serious ones:

  • AdBlocker Ultimate: Your run-of-the-mill adblock. I chose this one instead of uBlock since I'm fairly sure uBlock was giving me problems on Chrome and I don't wanna repeat the experience. You can use the "Block Element" feature to get rid of all the new annoying Tumblr features, it's easy.
  • ClearURLS: Removes tracking from URLs.
  • Decentraleyes: Protects from tracking & targeted ads.
  • DuckDuckGo Privacy Essentials: More tracking, cookies, etc etc protection.
  • Privacy Badger: More tracking protection.
  • Shinigami Eyes: Marks transphobic blogs/accounts/profiles red.

Alright now some less serious, more fun ones:

  • Enhancer For Youtube: Gives you a highly customizable utility bar with features like simple screenshotting, pop-up players, volume enhancement, & other things. Also has the ability to alter your YouTube theme and toggle settings that'll stop pesky YouTube tabs from automatically starting.
  • Firefox Color: Custom themes for dummies! It doesn't customize everything but it gets pretty close. I think this would be a good tool for folks who need high contrast themes and can't find pre-made ones suited to their needs. Also comes with a few pre-made themes you can either use or use as bases.
  • LanguageTool: A spelling and grammar checking program that works in many languages and on all websites!
  • OneTab: Turns tabs into lists. Fantastic for when you're knee-deep in hyperfixation/special interest territory, or even for research.
  • Turbo Download Manager: Helps with frustrating downloads.
  • Video DownloadHelper: Gives you options to download any video from your tabs in multiple formats. Also has the option to download and convert to another format. [Update: This one requires a paid subscription AND externally downloaded program for these features. Nevermind.]
  • XKit Rewritten: Most Tumblr users already know of xKit but I'm including the link nonetheless! This kit makes Tumblr on PC enjoyable.
  • Custom Scrollbars: Makes your scrollbar pretty :)

Also, Firefox has their own page of useful add-ons, like Facebook containers and note-taking extensions. There's also a ton of themes. I don't think any of these are advertised on the main add-ons page? So I might as well mention it.

cheers :)

People will watch one of the oldest churches on earth being bombed by i*rael and still celebrate Christmas. They will watch the near extinction of Palestinian Christians and still celebrate Christmas. Christmas celebrations have been cancelled in Bethlehem, but Everyone else will still continue to celebrate Christmas.
