Everybody hates on Florida and then they pretend North Florida doesn't exist. When in reality, we've got the nicer, secluded beaches and fewer old people and fewer overly tan white people. This sky is at St. George Island, FL.

This first volume of art from The Codec Club’s David Flash, Cult Cosmos (Bandcamp), and Zombine is now available in digital form on Gumroad for the low price of $3! We’re gonna have a print version at Autoptic in August, but if you want a ~~sneak peek~~ then you should get this PDF! Also the PDF helps us pay for the print edition!

There'll be a nice full fledged explanation of this soon enough, but for now, me and my friends made a volume of digital art inspired by our project The Codec Club. There's lots of variety and lotsa pretty (and silly) stuff to look at in it. So plz support arts and allow us to do a second volume by purchasing this cheap high quality PDF!!!

Daft Dissapointment

You know I expect fans to have unreasonably high opinions of the new Daft Punk album, but to see critics throwing great scores at it is really disappointing. The album is barely "danceable", half of the songs are mid-tempo. It's a self-indulgent, occasionally cheesy record with the exception of a very few bright spots ("Giorgio by Moroder", "Touch", and "Doin' It Right"). Daft Punk didn't shove anything in the face of EDM, who they view as an aesthetic enemy. In fact, it makes them seem ignorant to all the fantastic dance music that does exist in 2013 created by people who aren't merely trend hoppers. Railing against "computer musicians" is ignorant and makes them seem out of touch. Plus, we have people who already make beautiful 21st century disco influenced dance music and it's far better. Lindstrøm and Hercules and Love Affair come to mind. Going fully analog and enlisting talented session musicians created an even more distant and lifeless record. When Guy-Manuel and Thomas were sitting behind samplers and creating energy filled pounding dance music I believed it was representative of their creative emotion. This "musical"-of-an-album feels like a fireworks display that has no point. A full track-by-track review is in the works.
